Birch And Maple Leaf...
In the fall of 2021 we went to Heart lake to check out the changing colours. We were not disappointed, the forest was bathed in a golden yellow light; the golden hue cast its brilliance upon everything in sight.
A well placed leaf on a pure white birch made this a very fun and interesting photo to edit.

Have to stay home these days, so can't take pictures so far. Surprisingly much snow around and it's pretty cold also (about -15 Celsius). A picture from the archive.
Thank you for all the comments and favs, my friends.
The fall birch forest has a special beauty of its own. The beautiful birch bark, the yellow leaves with intermingling red maple leaves, and the illuminating light make you want to stand and revel in the splendor of it all!

A Birch Between....
Along the path to our right this tall white paper birch was dressed completely in full fall regalia, with all its leaves turned pale gold and bright yellow. The shadows of the leaves danced across the birches trunk in a mesmerizing back and forth motion. I stood and stared for a moment before taking this photo... enjoying the beauty of Gods creation and i was privileged to be a spectator.

Yes, there is a real Walden Pond. This one is located in Wolverine, Michigan. And while the leaves and color are all gone, this November afternoon provided a wonderful evening sun to light up the Tamaracks, Birches, and other vegetation. Lot of ducks and beavers on this little gem of a pond. Since I just discovered this spot, my goal is to return here next October when the colors are showing off.
Fallen In The Fall...
From the archives:
Fall is my favorite time of year, soon the leaves will be blowing along the sidewalks and roads of Ontario. Autumn is finally here and the leaves son the trees are starting to turn.
Time to get out the gear and get ready for some fantastic photographs.

Winter Birch..
This week we did a short hike in the Park. it was slightly cold with a very light mist and fog that hung around in the trees where the wind couldn't blow it around.
Along Birch alley i found this birch with a dusting of crystalized snow on the trunk. it sparkled and shone in the dim light like a mullion tiny stars.

Birch Bark...
Karen and I took a day trip to The Forks of the Credit River in beautiful Caledon. It was a lovely day for a photo hike. the sun was brilliant and the temperature was slightly above freezing.
this birch had rotted right down to the base of its trunk and was almost completely hollow except for the skin which had filled up with snow.

Moments pass so quickly and become the past. Here is a picture from my favorite birch valley that becomes golden once a year.

The picture from the park in the morning hour. Love the mid summer colors and atmosphere of these days. It all promise a good day, a good time ahead.
Thank you for all the comments and favs, my friends.
The robins are back in my garden working on another nest. Every morning this one sits in the birch tree and sings away as I watch from my window sipping my first coffee of the day. It’s a great way to start the day. Happy Wing Wednesday!

A Fungus Among Us..
A few weeks ago we ventured into the park, the dim light made most of the shots a bit of a challenge. slow shutter speeds were a problem so i had to go higher on ISO which is always a trade off on image quality. Even though the D750 is a low light beast. I had to be carful not to overexpose the images and lose my high lights. I intentionally set my exposure to render darker images and chose to fix them in LR It was a wise choice as i did have a few blown out highlights in my first few images,.
Just off the main path there is an old stand of Birch trees that have succumbed to the ravages of age and fallen to the ground. this one was covered with mushrooms and fungus, nature has a way of decomposing trees and other life and turning them back into dirt;
