I was sitting in the train and approaching center of Helsinki, lazily looking out of the window... It was a typical cloudy October day in Finland, but when just few minutes were left until the train would stop, I noticed almost an surreal view. On the park hill under colorful autumn trees appeared figures of few horses that looked like just stepped out of an epic movie, and it took a while until I believed they were real. All other plans immediately became insignificant, I had to postpone everything else but seeing those horses. So after leaving the train I turned to the opposite direction and walked back towards the park. Yes, the horses indeed were real, very real... Not far from there was a huge travelling circus tent, and between the shows they let the horses graze in the closest green area. What a wonderful view it was!

I took a good set of photos, and one of horses even managed to negotiate my lunch apple as a compensation for its photo session. The only disappointment was my camera. When I returned home it went on strike and stubbornly continues it. I even don't know what it is striking against...

Sending love and light this Christmas, I hope your Christmas sparkles 🎄💫

After yesterday's play, today is the motif for which I was actually on the road on Sunday. It took a total of only 2 hours until I passed this young birch tree that was standing very elegantly by the wayside.

enjoy the magic of autumn

Tree on Mount Mottarone (italy].. „Der Ausdauernde“ - faszinierend wie. Bäume sich auf so kargem Grund halten können.

The moon and the sun, two lovers never be able to meet each other. While one of them is just appearing the other has to leave already. On some days they have the chance to wave at each other for a short moment. This was one of those days. While the sun behind me is striving towards the horizon unstoppably, the moon has started his ascend already and is now shining on the still blue evening sky.

Unfortunately it's impossible for me, to capture both of them in the same frame. So I have to content myself with the warm evening sunlight reflected by the walls of this tiny cabin.

I think that autumn is often the best season for leaves. Whilst we all enjoy seeing new leaves in spring after the barren season of winter, it is in autumn that we get to notice all the fine veining, delicate textures and sharp edges of the leaves as they change colour and array themselves in their autumnal costumes of reds, browns, oranges and golds.

Autumn is now coming to an end here in Melbourne, and the cooler winds of seasonal change are blowing away the remnants of the season, tossing the red, gold and orange leaves that now carpet the ground.

Yesterday, although officially the second day of winter here, was a perfect autumnal day in Melbourne: partially sunny, but not too bright, warm, but not hot, and perfectly still. Therefore I thought I'd go for a walk and take advantage of the sunny conditions and take some photographs. This includes these wonderful golden yellow silver birch leaves which were hanging, catching the light, tumbling down like golden raindrops.

wonderfully alluring interior of an entire birch forest in the Cairngorms National Park. This forest smells so wonderful of Earth, moisture, rotting plants, mushrooms and so many other fragrancies real forests have to offer.

We passed all along the beautiful Kjosen fjord, a lateral arm off Ullsfjorden fjord. All of a sudden I saw this flock of sheep, got out of the car whilst they came running towards me. As soon as I raised my arm to point the camera, they turned 180 degrees and ran back. We played this game several times until I could get my shot, Such a sweet bunch behaving like a sort of fish shoal, must be the closeness of the fjord :D

I have learned from websites that this is a "Viking sheep race" :)

There is a pond in Wolverine, Michigan, called Walden Pond. These birch trees are on an island on that pond. Since discovering this pond, I can hardly wait for an earlier shot next autumn.

This is one of my favourite places at the lake, where sometimes I like to sit in evenings...

Why a "miner's castle" you may ask. Mining has been a major industry in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. There are cities with names like Copper Harbor or Iron Mountain. Iron ore freighters have dominated shipping traffic on the Great Lakes in past years. Today many of the mines have played out; others continue with low yield ore, still shipped by freighter.

In 2006, there was a second "tower", making it look more like a castle. That pillar collapsed due to erosion, leaving the Miner's Castle with only one tower.

Imagine there's no heaven

It's easy if you try

No hell below us

Above us, only sky

Imagine all the people

Livin' for today

Ah

Imagine there's no countries

It isn't hard to do

Nothing to kill or die for

And no religion, too

Imagine all the people

Livin' life in peace

You

You may say I'm a dreamer

But I'm not the only one

I hope someday you'll join us

And the world will be as one

Imagine no possessions

I wonder if you can

No need for greed or hunger

A brotherhood of man

Imagine all the people

Sharing all the world

You

You may say I'm a dreamer

But I'm not the only one

I hope someday you'll join us

And the world will live as one John Lennon © www.ludwigriml.com

Forest hike on a wet and foggy winter day....manipulated photograph edited with textures

RF Licenses and Prints

A beautiful May day in Wester Ross, Scottish Highlands.

Shot with the Olympus E-M1, Mark II just outside of Wilmington in Dover, Vermont.

This chapel is situated on top of the 'Ölberg", a steep vineyard in the Markgräflerland at the foothills of the Black Forest. Its location offers the most beautiful views to the Markgräflerland, the Black Forest and the Vosges/France in the distance. Worth the steep walk.
