"Spring: a lovely reminder of how beautiful change can truly be." - Unknown
Happy Tree-mendous Tuesday.
Birchtree on the mount Mottarone above the Lago Maggiore in Italy.
Eine Birke auf dem Monte Mottarone hoch über dem Lago Maggiore in Italien. Spannend, wie viele Birken und Birkenwälder es dort gibt, das hatte ich in dieser Lage gar nicht erwartet!
birchwoods path in the Scottish Cairngorms National Park. A wonderful path to walk enjoying the fantastic forest environment all around it. It seems impossible that only half a century ago the Scottish Highlands Railway was passing here and where once the rails were, now this path invitest wanderers to explore :)
Happy Tree-mendous Tuesday everyone!
Just before sunset. A different shot. Such unusual lighting with a dark, blue sky. About as shot vertically. A bit of vertical straightening.
Storvatnet on the Lofoten islands in deep winter. I found those strangely folded fresh ice textures in the foreground to be most peculiar and interesting. One could almost watch the formation of the ice sheet.
Hiking in a state forest last week and came across these Birch trees... I like how their white bark stands out against the gold of the fallen leaves.
Everybody likes autumn. Bright colours, nice smells and beautiful light. To enjoy it in a full range I should go pretty far, to the places like this. And this is a small problem for me. My inner photographer calls to go make photos. And another me says - stop and stare. Especially when you see a special place for that:-)
The photo from one of the most scenic locations in my region. Small Nemda river surrounded by autumn forests one frosty early morning (about -5 Celcius).
Thank you for all the comments and faves, my friends.

Richard Gere (12 yrs) on the porch in early morning (Dec 4th, 2020) admiring the snowfall .
The tones of the snow depends on the light of the sky, temperature and the time.
It changes continuously. It's magic!
...oder eher: von der Rolle? ;-)

Vergolden, ja vergolden.
A walk in a forest. It felt cooler shaded by tall trees. Mid-day the dynamic range provided a good escape with lens from heat and too-bright sun.
Leaves don't ponder how to "be", I don't suppose. Or man's inhumanity to man. They just exist. Until they don't.
Changed vivid green leaves to dim them bit. A bit of crop and resized for Flickr.
Kind of you to look.
The website.
New mostly unpublished ICM landscape pictures from Germany - Emsland and Teufelsmoor.
New article about Leica Q2. "A huge disappointment (but then...!!)"
New gallery with pictures of the Inner Core Project.
a stroll through the forest on Kapuzinerberg hill in Salzburg, Austria. Such a lovely spot of urban nature where Salzburgers may walk, hike, run, relax ...
Happy Tree-mendous Tuesday!
Just a little texture for this Tuesday. This is what happens when I get bored...I walk around my yard looking for stuff to photograph.

This image is of the reflections of trees in their autumn colors on the slightly rippled surface of Little Bass Lake. The snake-like, sinuous white streak is from a white paper birch tree (Betula papyrifera, Betulaceae). I shot the picture from a kayak, giving me a nice low perspective.
Little Bass Lake is entirely within the State Forest without any development around it. There is a single forest access road leading to the lake's boat landing for non-motorized boats, primarily kayaks and canoes.

Coral Tooth Fungus on the trunck of a dying Birch Tree along the Tamarack Nature Trail in the Hersey Lake Conservation Area located in Tisdale Township in the City of Timmins in Northeastern Ontario Canada
Like all species from the genus Herecium, the coral tooth (Herecium coralloides) is a decomposer, growing on dead wood. It often occurs in large masses on tree trunks of deciduous trees like beech. In principle it is edible, but not special in terms of taste.

We came upon a whole colony of these in Hilliers Arboretum, growing around a tree. I liked the dappled light on this little grouping.
Shelly-Ann leans her tail on the brass vase on the stone wall of the porch.
Behind her there is a birch tree.
Have a wonderful day, my friends!
this was taken on the 4th of December, DECEMBER - who would have thought that you'd get weather like this in winter? And only a mile down the road in the glen, it was white with thick frost, every single blade of grass was frozen in time.
A Christmas trip to Wyming Brook in the Peak District. We'd never been here before so it was challenging to find suitable compositions, especially at this time of year, but its such a beautiful location.
Its likely that this location will change during 2023 as its now been confirmed that Phytophthera disease is present so a number of tree species will be felled to reduce spread.
