The glare on this trip to Germantown was some of the worst I've ever had to contend with. Hard to tell, but it appears not only is McDonald's thumbing their nose at history by destroying the classic old building that once stood on this lot, now they're stonewalling their neighbors (Arby's, and a tiny minor medical clinic behind Arby's) as well, by building a new trash/freezer corral right where the old side lot entrance was. Hey, I just sat for a few hours in the minor med and want some fast food..where shall I go? McD's? Na, too much trouble to fight the traffic and go all the way around the block. They just shot themselves in the foot and blocked their easy entrance, so I'll just get something from the friendly next-door Arby's instead!

This particular picture of the Olive Branch McDonald's road sign is from late October 2012, proving the eyebrow remodel from a partial mansard roof style was completed by then. This is one of those rare remodels however, where the building actually lacks a Giant Yellow Eyebrow of Doom™ (trademark by wachovia_138). It does have a baby-sized yellow eyebrow however, over the drive thru side entrance!

This picture was taken in 1994, of the McDonald's in downtown Montreal on Sainte-Catherine's between Guy and Mackay.
This was my usual munch-pause just before taking the 165 bus up Cote-des-Neiges to Université de Montréal to attend the (now defunct) Animate/Anime Central Japanese anime club.
This McDonald's closed a few years ago, not because of lousy business (it's real close to Concordia University), but simply because the franchise owner moved business to a new locale, just a few steps away, on the corner of Mackay.
One of the 5 McDonald's restaurants in greater Portsmouth. Two instores and three stores featuring a Drive-Thru. This one is located on a parking lot near a stadium and some hardware stores.

McDonald's will roll out new packaging around the world in 2013, beginning with the U.S. market in January.
This restaurant is located a bit off the West part of the city center located on the corner of the Valkyriegaten and Kirkeveien and opposite one of the four Oslo metrostations served by all 6 metro lines. Tram (trikk) 12 is having its loop just in front of the door as well.
In Norway are 74 McDonald's restaurants, the first opened in the year 1983. In greater Oslo are about 25 stores. None of the the Norwegian McDonald's restaurants has McCafé's.

On Bank Street near Hunt Club in southern Ottawa, just steps away from the South Keys Mall.
It's pretty much the same old, same old, with a similar colour scheme to the Billings Bridge McDonald's, though the roof is more traditional.
The one thing I noticed, and it's hard to see from this angle, is that this McDonald's has one of those "greenhouse" fronts similar to older standalone Wendy's outlets. I wonder if it used to be a Wendy's? (There's a Wendy's nearby, near the Bank Street and Hunt Club intersection.)
We drove by this McDonald's restaurant and I couln't resist taking a photo of this new style McDonald's restaurant. I like the landscaping with sculptures of this restaurant.

This is looking at the front from a little further back. I haven't followed an "eyebrow-style" McDonald's rebuild close enough to know if that taller-looking front steelwork on the new structure is normal, but at this point I wouldn't bet on anything special about this new McDonald's. If I'm wrong, I'll gladly eat my words! Time will tell very soon at the rate slapping this thing up.

Too bad all that junk is blocking this view, it would of been a good picture otherwise. To me the lettering looks like it's a slightly different, fatter, more modern (of course!) font than what they've been using around here as of late. Is Hernando getting some sort of new prototype font? Also looks like the yellow eyebrow color is ever slightly more orange, but that's likely due to the fading daylight. I wanted to come during my lunch break at high noon for pictures, when the sun wouldn't of been as low in the sky. But once again, that aforementioned train was right on time blocking the road!

I took a big risk when I took this photo, actually taking a picture of the main counter at the Rideau Street McDonald's, risking the floor staff getting snippy at me the way that the counter staff at the McDonald's across Rue de Dunkerque from Gare du Nord in Paris scolded me for taking a shot of the menu, as though my brother, Nick, and I were the first foreign customers there to want to bring home photographic evidence that, in France, the McDonald's Quarter Pounder is called "Le Royale". Haven't they ever seen the Quentin Tarantino film Pulp Fiction?
I thought that I was lucky and the staff didn't even notice me snapping the picture, but, examining the picture closely, it seems that one of the girls in the kitchen, the one who served me a minute or so later, is looking right at me, though she could have been just looking at the line-up in general and not specifically at me. If she did see me taking the picture, she didn't say anything about it when she served me.
Another thing I like about this picture is that there is a girl being held by her boyfriend in a sweet embrace, and, right next to her, the word "SWEET!" serendipituously in an ad for a sundae on the back of the cash register.
Often considered as a McDonald's flagship store in France and it is still one of the most frequented McDonald's restaurants in Europe. Opened in the late 1980's and remodelled several times. It used to have a McDonald's Boutique in the 1990's but this store-in-store selling all kinds of McDonald's memorabilia had to shut down. Now this McDonald's features a McCafé instead and a large dining room on the first floor.
In 1997 another McDonald's restaurant opened on the Champs-Elysées at number 84 in a shopping gallerie, a former Burger King restaurant.
The signage of this restaurant is subject to strict regulations given by the authorities of the city of Paris. Only certain colors were allowed such as silver, gold, white and black.

After three-and-a-half months of demolition and reconstruction, the rebuilt Merivale Road McDonald's is finally open.
I still miss the classic-style McDonald's architecture, but one obvious improvement is that the drive-thru lane doesn't stretch all of the way around the restaurant, so the sides of the restaurant facing Merivale Road and Family Brown Lane are no longer caged in by pavement and I presume they'll be landscaped, unless the bare piles of dirt are some sort of avant-garde movement within the landscaping industry that I'm not hip to.

Tanger ( طنجة) is a city in northwestern Morocco, on the coasts of the Mediterranean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean. The city is the capital of the Tanger-Tetouan-Al Hoceima region, as well as the Tangier-Assilah Prefecture of Morocco.

Two Burger King restaurants next to eachother was not a good idea and McDonald's wanted a spacious restaurant in the station and so it happened.
300 McDonald's have opened their doors in France over the past 10 years. And by 2025, the number of new restaurants will accelerate even further. "Until now, we've been opening 30 restaurants per year; 300 McDonald's have opened in France over the past 10 years," the fast-food group rewinds. By 2025, 50 additional restaurants will welcome customers, "an investment of €100 million." And this, often in villages all over France.
The message being displayed? "Every French person has the right to their own McDonald's within 20 minutes of their home." The American company wants to bring its offerings closer to its customers. And it's making it known. On September 17, 1979, McDonald's opened its first French restaurant in Strasbourg (Bas-Rhin). There are now more than 1,500, and it's not over yet.

I was aiming for that late 70's Arby's in this shot, but was a bit too far away! This photo is close-cropped as it is, to focus on the vacant corner lot that McDonald's chose to build it's new Shelby Dr. eyebrow-style restaurant on circa mid-2013, not very long after this photo was taken. This was the site of a closed and creepy Citgo self-serve station (torn down in 2010), built over the site of a full service Union '76 gas station, which I can vaguely remember from the early-mid 70's. Going further back before my time, this Pure Oil Station was here: flic.kr/p/62yNUj. The Union '76 may of been a remodel of that Pure station.

11 days since the previous Germantown McDonald's pictures were taken, and other than the windows being installed, not much visible progress. I would imagine most of the work is going on in the interior. And it looks like no dark brown exterior accents here after all (wishful thinking), seeing how the window casings are silver, just like at nearly every other eyebrow McDonald's.

Some times bad decisions are very tasty. I love Chicken McNuggets and big Macs. I only do McDonald's about every 6 months, but I do it right when I do.
This McDonald's restaurant is located along the Autoroute du Soleil at exit 7 (Solaize) South of the metropolitain area of Lyon. We haven't visited this store, this photo was taken through the window pane of a car in motion. This restaurant features a side-by-side order points in its Drive-Thru.

This McDonald's used to have the same corrugated iron look as the McDonald's restaurants in Schiphol, Terneuzen and IJsselstein but the remodeling did some good work to the exterior of this restaurant. The background colors of the pole sign has been colored olive green which became the standard for Europe in 2013. Not all signs are already treated like this one as we speak (2013).

One more pic again from the Kroger fuel center, looking at the new McDonald's "box". At least it'll look a little less boxy if/when they install the usual eyebrow era industrial-style "steel" drive thru overhang (likely made out of plastic, LoL!). But I now fear they're using this Hernando location as a testing ground for their half-baked prototype designs, so who knows what the end result will be on this side of the building! To be fair, this didn't look quite as strange in person (at least on the other side), no lemon yellow (yet) on that east side where there was also better lighting. Yeah, we'll just blame it on the harsh lighting and shadows, that's what we'll do! Unfortunately, they had so many construction vehicles blocking the other side that I couldn't even get a clear picture.

Both freestanding restaurants featuring a Drive-Thru and located in a commerical activity zone. This restaurant is located on the West side of the city and has neighbours like hôtel Première Classe and Courtepaille. This restaurant features a double lane Drive-Thru, a Ronaldland (PlayPlace) and a large terrace.

Billings Bridge Plaza in the Riverside Park neighbourhood of south central Ottawa, immediately south of the Rideau River, is a moderate-to-large-sized "neighbourhood" shopping centre... large enough to have a food court, a Zellers discount department store, and a Coles Bookstore, among other things, but there aren't any destination stores you'd really go out of your way to visit if you aren't already in the area (i.e. the Bay, Chapters, Sears, Toys R' Us, IKEA, Gap, etc...).
It's also connected to a major OC Transpo Transitway stop.
The most notable thing about Billings Bridge Plaza, as far as I'm concerned, is that it has TWO different McDonald's, one in the food court and a standalone one at the edge of the parking lot.
When I took this picture, I had forgotten to turn the flash off, so it actually lit up the food court for a second and I had to make a hasty retreat lest security get at me for taking a photo inside a shopping centre. No one said anything to me, though.
The construction crews weren't happy to just take over part of the Arby's lot, now they're parking on the other side as well. This bank parking lot slopes downward quite a bit as you can see, and did to a certain degree at McDonald's as well. It looks like for the most part it's been leveled off for the rebuild: boring and flat, mimicking the new McDonald's itself!

They changed pretty much everything on the exterior of the restaurant, especially removing the distinctive red McDonald's roof.
This is the same McDonald's restaurant last August, before the renovations.
