Here's a dramatic angle of the Merivale Road McDonald's in Nepean that I made for Google Maps.
I took several vertical photos using my Sony Nex-5K mirrorless camera and a wide lens (18mm equivalent) and then composited them into a single shot using Microsoft ICE and selected "Perspective" mode for the projection.
"Perspective" is hit or miss, sometimes parts of the image away from the centre, especially cars in the foreground, get ridiculously distorted, but since I shot this McDonald's with the restaurant itself being right in the centre and left a lot of sky and bushes at the edges, I think it turned out fantastic.
One thing I especially like is that I was able to crop it just short of the sidewalk so it almost makes it look like that this McDonald's is in the middle of scrubland although there's a glimpse of Family Brown Lane at the right edge of the shot to break the illusion that this McDonald's is completely surrounded by brush.

The Mackinac Bridge connects Michigan's upper and lower peninsulas (in the U.S.). The bridge is 5 miles long and carries I-75 between the peninsulas. Navigation through the straits is hazardous for large tankers, so this bridge serves as the ultimate navigational guide through this narrow area which is loaded with huge boulders. Also, for all practical purposes, the bridge divides Lake Michigan from Lake Huron. Shown here on this foggy afternoon is one of the many ferry boats which transport visitors to and from Mackinac Island each day during the warmer months of the year.

One of the 5 McDonald's locations in the area of Clermont-Ferrand I photo-visited before heading North to the Netherlands. McDonald's operates 10 restaurants in and the direct area of Clermont-Ferrand (including Riom) from which only 1 instore restaurant. The area of Clermont-Ferrand has 2 KFC restaurants (both "drive" locations) and 4 Quick restaurants (including 1 in Rion, 1 downtown instore location). No signs of Burger King yet as we speak (June 2016).
This restaurant is located about 7 kilometers North of the city of Clermont-Ferrand in Gerzat along the autoroute A71 (in between exit 14 and 15) along the D210.

The traffic controller of McDonald's during the dinner rush in Lelystad on Second Easter Day. I wonder what the management of KFC thought about this idea. The controller was very entertaining and obviously had a lot of fun in his work. Inside the restaurant monster crowds, good quality food served at your table. Good work. Food, Folks and Fun!

The same thing people did in 1953 we did this morning. Ordering a meal at the walk-up window. It was breakfast in our case.

The 1953 McDonald's restaurant at 10207 Lakewood Blvd. (at Florence Ave.) was the third franchised McDonald's built and is the oldest surviving McDonald's. It was listed on the National Trust for Historic Preservation's 1994 list of the 11 Most Endangered Historic Places. It was one of the first restaurants franchised by Dick and Mac McDonald, prior to the involvement of Ray Kroc in the company, and it still has the original "Golden arches" and a 60-foot animated neon "Speedee" sign.
With low sales, damage from the 1994 Northridge earthquake, and the lack of a drive-up window and indoor seating, the restaurant was closed. However with both the public and preservationists demanding the restaurant be saved, McDonald's spent two years restoring the restaurant and reopened it. Customers today can visit the original restaurant and an adjoining gift shop and museum.

McDonald's Wickrath is a McDonald's restaurant located along Autobahn 61, Ausfahrt 13. Visited this location on our way from Phantasialand to home. At the same location you will find KFC and Subway, both restaurants have a Drive-Thru like this McDonald's.
There are 4 restaurants in Mönchengladbach (2 instore, 2 free standing restaurants with McDrive) and in total there are 1489 McDonald's restaurants in Germany as we speak (*October 2019), 1054 feature a Drive-Thru and 945 have been converted to "Restaurants of the Future" (online ordering, order terminals etc.).

A McDonald's and La Place will open a restaurant under the same roof on the service area Hackelaar near Muiden along the highway A1 in the direction of Amsterdam. On this photo La Place at the right and McDonald's on the left. McDonald's will feature a McCafé and Drive-Thru. Opening is sheduled at the end of December 2020.
Too bad for the inhabitants of Muiden and Weesp, this restaurant is not accessible from local roads, only from the A1.

That propane tank looks to be bent, leaning and threatening to fall over, which would probably be a bad thing for a propane tank! But alas, it's just more of that funky window distortion from taking the photo while the vehicle was moving. Come to think of it, as close to the road as this is, and knowing how bad a lot of Memphis drivers are, I certainly hope this is a fake tank: just a sign, not filled with the real stuff. This instore McDonald's restaurant inside the terminal building of the international airport of Athens is featuring a McCafé as well. In Greece there are in total 23 McDonald's restaurants (from which 2 with McCafé en 11 featuring a Drive-Thru, "Οδηγείτε μέσω"). Twelve of the 23 restaurants are in the area of Athens. (* 09/2018)

Bonus pic of the week: On my way out to Germantown to take more follow up pics of a few places, I spotted this mid-90's McDonald's in mid-eyebrow remodel. The large yellow eyebrow hadn't even been installed yet (as of the last week of July 2013) and it still retained red and white mid-90's elements on the exterior walls.
The transformation of these old McDonald's in the Memphis area has started gaining momentum apparently. As always, I took many pics of this but didn't venture inside this time. I definitely intend to step up the number of uploads again next weekend, after photo 1000 is uploaded.

This McDonald's is located along the Autobahn A61 (exit 47 "Waldlaubersheim") in Rheinland-Pfalz. Visited on our way from Holiday Park to the Netherlands. This restaurants features a McCafé and Drive-Thru and is part of a so-called Autohof with a huge gas station (Total) and parking facility for trucks.
As we speak (*February 2019) McDonald's has 1476 restaurants in Germany (of which 848 with McCafé) and around 58000 employees. Burger King has around 700 restaurants in Germany, and KFC around 161 (2019).

This vantage point for this former McDonald's photo is the very last row of parking before hitting Shelby Dr., in front of the closing Macy's, on it's very last official day in operation. With this, uh, colorful thing opening across the street from the now former Macy's, one shudders to think what might become of the Macy's building itself.

In the year 2016 McDonald's opened 4 restaurants and closed one. This restaurant in Breda was the first restaurant opened in 2016 and was number 245 in the Netherlands. Number 246 was McDonald's Uithoorn (November 2016), number 247 was McDonald's Maasdijk (November 2016) and number 248 Harderwijk (December 2016).
Breda has now 4 McDonald's restaurants within its city limits. One instore in the center (opened in 1978), Breda Steenakker (opened in 2000) and McDonald's Woonboulevard (opened in 2010). There are no Burger King restaurants in Breda and one KFC restaurant (with Drive-Thru) as we speak (*February 2017). The franchisee of this restaurant is Ab Troost.

A cold mid winter’s night in Northern Michigan and the Mackinac Bridge / Straits of Mackinac, as seen from Bridge View Park, St. Ignace, Mackinac County- - -61 second exposure.
The Mackinac Bridge spans the Straits of Mackinac and connects Michigan’s upper and lower peninsulas. It is the world’s third longest suspension bridge: total bridge length is 26,372 feet (5 miles) / 8,038 meters; suspension bridge length is 8,614 feet / 2,626 meters; distance between the towers is 3,800 feet / 1,158 meters; height of main towers is 552 feet / 168.25 meters; the bridge roadbed is 200 feet / 60.96 metres above the water at midspan; the roadbed is 54 feet / 18.45 meters wide; total length of all suspension cables is 42,000 miles / 67, 592 kilometers. The bridge was designed by David B. Steinman and built by the American Bridge Company of New York at a cost of $100 million (1957). Suspension bridge construction began in May 1954; the bridge opened for traffic on November 1, 1957. The toll bridge is part of Interstate 75 (I 75) with St. Ignace at the north end of the bridge; Mackinaw City at the south end.

Here's what's believed to be the last remaining mansard roof McDonald's in DeSoto County Mississippi. Despite the 2001 year build date posted at the assessor's site, aerial photos prove it was actually built a few years later than that. Either way, this is one of the last McDonald's mansard roof styles to be built anywhere I would imagine.

This brandnew McDonald's restaurant (opened 1 week prior to this photo) is located along the A1 highway at the service area Hackelaar near Muiden in the direction of Amsterdam. Sharing the same roof with casual dining restaurant La Place which was not open at the time McDonald's opened. This restaurant features a McCafé and Drive-Thru (still called McDrive in the Netherlands).
This is the 253th restaurant in the Netherlands.

I put the ball of beef on the griddle, seasoning with SPS (Salt, Pepper, Shallot powder). Then laid a tortilla on top, and smashed it down as thin as I could get it. Let it cook for a minute, then flipped, and seasoned the second side. Topped with cheese. The finish was with "BigMac sauce", chopped lettuce, and pickles.

My most elaborate 1:43 scale toy cars with backdrop set up yet.
I took a picture of the drive-thru at Merivale Road McDonald's in Nepean, then printed it out on two sheets of paper, taped together. Then I stretched out the pavement in Photoshop and printed that out on two more sheets of paper. I placed the McDonald's backdrop to the back of a thin box, used the cover of an old Sony turntable as a platform, and lit it using a energy-efficitent light bulb (that's the same colour and light "temperature" as a normal incandescent light bulb) to simulate the sun and a battery-powered fluorescent light (that was made to use with the Game Boy Advance in low-light situations) as a fill light.
