Ladies and Gentlemen, the Big Cats, and a kid who spent most of the show running in front of the stage, and on occasion laid up on the edge of the stage, which got lots of laughs.

This lion on a kill was 2 meters from the road and I drove right past it. I was looking right instead of left. Fortunately I was flagged down 100 meters down the road by folk from the Kgalagadi Leopard Project who asked if I had seen what I drove past.
Best if viewed large. Moments before this shot was taken two teenage boys got to scuffling just outside the cage. This cat and a larger one ran to the edge of the cage (chain link fencing), stood on hind legs and tried their best to get into the fracus. A zoo keeper immediately put a stop to the boys fun and pointed to the two tigers who were still leaning against the fence. Just one look is all it took! She explained that such things get the big cats excited and that is something you just don't want to do. The boys settled down immediately. I'm 6 feet 3 inches tall and the larger cat towered over me. Who knows what would have happened if the fencing had not been there?

This is Luther, one of two tigers at the Franklin Park Zoo in Boston, Massachusetts. He and his friend Anala were confiscated during a sting operation where someone was trying to sell them to an officer. They've been at the zoo since they were cubs.
Singapore Zoo is one of the best in Asia and gives the visitor some wonderful opportunities to get close to wonderfully exotic and rare animals. We thoroughly enjoyed making the most of special moments with certain species at 'feeding time' opportunities, such as with giraffes, kangaroos, and lemurs!
The weather was alas less pleasant, and having narrowly escaped a soaking in the rainstorm on our arrival the light remained poor for photography and compromised the bulk of our photos here.
One of the best parts of all however was the Night Safari which is located on a separate site a short distance away and opens to visitors after dark at 7.30pm. Here a huge variety of species can be enjoyed in a more naturalistic environment whilst visitors look on from the safety of pathways and tram rides through the extensive complex.
Of course the near total darkness (low level artificial lighting provides just enough to see the animals without disturbing their routines) and our desire to remain as silent as possible to avoid upsetting the animals (sadly not all tourists are that sensitive!) meant conditions weren't remotely photography friendly, thus I have no visual record of this magical experience.
I made these for someone's wishlist... :)
Should have been one ATC only, but I couldn't decide which picture to use, so I ended up making two. :)
The photo isn't too good, not really showing much detail.
I included some silver thread to decorate the one on the right...
Amboseli National Park Kenya, October 2021 Although Amboseli National Park is most famous for their elephant families, we were thrilled to see these lions, especially after we were told the chances of seeing them were pretty slim. The male was calling to the adult females, one who responded by walking right over to him. We saw several lions in the tall grass on one side of the road, as well as these lions on the opposite side of the road. The Lion Guardians is the conservation organization that helps to protect and monitor the lions in the park, as well as work with the communities who experience wildlife-human conflict. lionguardians.org
