Being a somewhat larger bird and as she got closer to my window, I was able to take pictures of her with the magnificent Nikon AF-P Nikkor 70-300mm F4.5-5.6E ED VR, ".speeding up" the focal length to 300mm. :-)
Looking at the world through my eyes
Its to understand that I see it the
way I have been taught to.
I see my world.
I see myself.
For what I choose to see is eventually
my own reflection. It reflects my
experiences, my history – what I see
is my mirror.
So how can I stop being locked
Within myself? How can I look
Beyond my locks?

Show me the meaning of being lonely
So many words for the broken heart
It’s hard to see in a crimson love
So hard to breathe
Walk with me, and maybe
Nights of light so soon become
Wild and free I could feel the sun
Your every wish will be done
They tell me...
Show me the meaning of being lonely
Is this the feeling I need to walk with
Tell me why I can’t be there where you are
There’s something missing in my heart
Life goes on as it never ends
Eyes of stone observe the trends
They never say forever gaze
Guilty roads to an endless love
There’s no control
Are you with me now
Your every wish will be done
They tell me
Show me the meaning of being lonely
Is this the feeling I need to walk with
Tell me why I can’t be there where you are
There’s something missing in my heart
There’s nowhere to run
I have no place to go
Surrender my heart, body and soul
How can it be you’re asking me to feel the things you never show
You are missing in my heart
Tell me why I can’t be there where you are
Show me the meaning of being lonely
Is this the feeling I need to walk with
Tell me why I can’t be there where you are
There’s something missing in my heart

I had wanted to get to this location, on the west side of Canyon Diablo, for a long time. The road in is just as bad as on the east side, but this is surely the road less traveled. The remote nature of this area makes for some interesting contrasts in compositions.
The goal was to photograph the bridge from the east side in evening light, but as I surveyed this location, just about a half mile short of my target, it was clear that plans had to change. The vast open landscape made it clear that there was an opportunity to capture something special, all I needed was train.
As the sun started to set behind the San Francisco Peaks my hopes were fading as fast as the light. Off in the distance, the faint glow of a headlight magically appeared, and what unfolded as the eastbound stack raced toward me was nothing short of spectacular, another one of those times that it would be nice just to stand and watch it unfold only to be remembered by me.
But, I am here to capture railroad moments in time so capture I did.
The late Steve Schmollinger once titled an article in CTC board or Trains, my old mind can't remember which, "Being There", his wisdom struck me then, as a much younger guy and has always stayed with me that, locations and light paired together are a beautiful thing.
My neighbor found this rattler warming itself on their driveway, since the temps at night are now getting cooler. It’s the end of October when the rattlesnakes usually start hibernating here in the lower desert, reappearing in Feb/early March depending on the temperature. It’s nice in these 3-5 months not worrying about being careful where you step.
I had to share these images...
This tree is at Bayard Cutting Arboretum and it has to be hundreds of years old.... you can walk under it on wooden decking and feel the wisdom and warm of her branches that are all around you... My camera didn't do this justice at and if I remember, I should being my fish eye lens the next time so maybe I can fit her all in!!
This is one of my favorite places on Long Island and this tree has to be the great-great grandmother of them all!!!
Subzero temperatures and an impending blizzard have Mr Wisconsin Bluebird sorry he didn't catch the flight south.
With the camera along the little river Erft is one of my favorite routes. I walk there up to 6 km.
Sometimes there is nothing to photograph, but most of the time there is.
At least I was in nature and that's a good thing.

It is raining here on and off today...finally!!! I have been waiting to be stuck in the house so i can finish some ornaments and tidy up and wrap some presents!
i stayed up too late last night and then woke too early. Because it was dark and dismal out there, i think i was blessed that Bubba let me sleep in without speaking to me in his relentless cat voice for breakfast to appear in his bowl! He slept on top of me...pinning me to the bed, so i closed my eyes and slept some more. Cats, for those of you unfamiliar are usually relentless when it comes to feeding time...but they are cozy warm critters leading to a slowing of your breathing and a signal to your brain to relax...step back...slow down and take advantage of the cozy!
They do to my brain what the ocean does to my soul.
I hope you all have a wonderful weekend. I am on Roscoe and Daisy duty as my daughter and family do their version of Christmas with Russ’ family in Fredericksburg. That being said i hope to accomplish finishing my tree ornaments and wrapping some gifts! :)
floating dreams
kissed by the gently breeze
midsummer night's dream
There is no better feeling than cuddling inside the hammock and feeling the gentle breeze as you sway in the cool air. It instantly brings you back to the early days when you were being rocked back and forth inside a cradle or baby stroller. Instant sleep
Being a farmer is hard work. Being a farmer in Northern Wisconsin during the winter can be even harder. Our cows drink naturally from creeks and streams. With the cold temps and pile of snow we just got, sometimes we need to chop through the ice to keep the water open for the cows. (When I say "we," I mean Adam 😂) He's the hardest worker I know. I wanted to show a picture I took yesterday of him making sure the cattle have access to water.
O Paulo (um excelente fotógrafo, confirmem... The_Bat), colocou-me um desafio... "e que tal ilustrar a Fez - Being Born"!

Six o'clock
On the auto route
Burning rubber, burning chrome
Bay of Cadiz and ferry home
Atlantic sea cut glass
African sun at last
Lights.. flash past
Like memories
A speeding head, a speeding heart
I'm being born, a bleeding start
The engines roar, blood curling wail
Head first then foot
The heart sets sail

Being migratory birds in Singapore, Blue-tailed bee-eaters can be found throughout the Northern winter months, but some of them also stay through the Northern summer. They show very similar behavior to the European bee-eaters - catching insects, squeezing them with their bills until the insect gives up, sometimes hammering them against their perch to stun or kill them and finally throwing them into the air to catch before they swallow them.
Being cooped up inside, I can only imagine being outside on the beach, riding at that time where golden hour slips into the blue hour.
Made Explore.
After a three-and-a-half-hour wait hiding from a constant downpours, a brief window opens.
Two hours were spent at Gordon Ramsay's nearby burger joint (I'm disappointed that the staff didn't swear at me) , then half an hour having a coffee while waiting for sunset, and a further hour hiding under a fancy real estate agency's awning waiting for the sky to darken and the rain to stop.
It eventually eased up, so a quick walk to the bridge was made in light spits. A quick shot had one and a half trains in it as the rain started again. Done. But I hoped the crossing of the white ones might be regular occurrence here as the rain quickly became heavier, so I retrieved a plastic bag for the camera, but the Tube train moved on.
A few seconds later, the matching white one arrived, and a replacement Tube... and then then a fourth snaked in! Luck of the draw, as all this unfolded within a minute. Shutter clicked, the white trains moved off and I was soaked again.
Gordon himself (Edgar, not Ramsay) was in turn 'being Andrew Jeffery', so paying it forward, this is likely to become the most aped shots in the city. It's a beaut with old St Pauls, The Shard, and the rain forming a distinctively 'London' backdrop. Well found, Mr Jeffrey.

People say that we're searching for the meaning of life.
I don't think that's it at all.

I think that what we're seeking is an experience of being alive, so that our life experiences on the purely physical plane will have resonances within our own innermost and reality, so that we actually feel the rapture of being alive.
