I think here you can also notice the unusual shape of the beak, hence it being a broadbill.
I have all my photos organized in albums by species and family. However, so far, this is the only member of this family that I have photographed.
In my opinion, the most beautiful one is the black-and-yellow, but to capture it, I need to return to Malaysia and not miss the opportunity.

Why is the sky pink tonight?
When passing through the evening sky, blue light is scattered more easily because it has a smaller wavelength. Red light on the other hand has a longer wavelength and is less scattered through the clouds. Thus, red light reaches our eyes more and thus the sky looks pink.

I was trying to get a nice photo of Monsieur Boo Lefou with the leaf pile. He was more interested in trying to catch every falling leaf. So I followed him around taking shots of the speedster, finally got one that wasn't a big blur. LOL

The so called "Proud Boys" are the white supremacist group Trump is so fond of. They have done nothing in their lives to be actually be proud of and they live through their white privilege and by their oppression of others. And yet, they can't even walk in their own communities without a gun and they can't walk into stores with their mask on because no one better impinge on their freedom to cause harm to whomever they wish.
Pride and humans with pride is about having a sense of who you are and living through grace and kindness...of doing the right thing and not being afraid to do the right thing even though you may have been oppressed for your gender identification or orientation. This is something to truly be proud of. This is who are world needs now not those who live by hate and rule by fear.

Being at the right place and at the right time is something all wildlife photographers dream of. Last evening having nearly a dozen Short-eared Owls flying around me for several hours was so much fun. I've only processed four of 100's of pictures (actually 1,400 photos). I have dreamed of someday being in a position to get an owl flying right at me, and last evening it happened. Unbelievable! I thought it was going to come into the car with me. There was no baiting going on here, but looks like it was going to take a mouse off my left shoulder.

Despite being a substantial village before the Norman Conquest, the description of Alwalton in the Doomsday Book makes no mention of a church. However, they were certain that there was a church a century later because the earliest parts of the present building date back from 1170 and were clearly the extension of an existing building.
This 1170 work (the first two bays of the north aisle with their solid piers, round arches and skilfully carved leaf volute capitals) is not only the most ancient part of the church, it is also the most beautiful.
During the early 13th century the church was considerably extended. The tower was built and the nave lengthened by the insertion of an extra bay at the west end and widened by adding a south aisle. It seems likely that the wonderful carving around the west door was also carried out at this time but it could have been earlier, having been moved from another part of the church.
With the completion of the 13th century work the church became much as we see it today, except for the transepts and chancel. But things might have been very different if plans to rebuild the church around 1300 had been successful. At that time work began on the construction of a central tower along with a high vaulted chancel and vaulted transept. Inexplicably, after about 30 years, the work ceased. The partly completed tower was taken down and only the chancel and transepts remain from this grandiose plan.
During the next 500 years there was only one major alteration and this took place during the 15th century. The nave walls were raised to form a clearstory and the church was re-roofed. Adding the clearstory involved building new arches at the crossing and it was at this time that the 13th century vaulting in the chancel and transepts was destroyed. Traces of the vaulting can still be seen on several walls but we can only imagine how splendid the building would now be if this magnificent ceiling had survived.
By the middle of the 19th century the church had fallen in to a sorry state and extensive repairs were begun in 1840

Andrew Murray's hand built sports car. This is the third car he custom hand built from scratch. Powered by a potent 374ci small block Chevrolet engine. Needless to say, it's quite fast! It being the third one Andrew built I named it the Murray III.
If you are ever able to see an exhibit of Chiaharu Shiota's work, I strongly recommend it. She's super creative and interesting.
As expensive as Zurich was, there were some amazing modern art exhibits in the city and this was definitely one of them!

This was so funny yesterday watching these 2 - you can see Rio in background and Millie is quite clearly tentatively moving very slowly across the grass keeping a watchful eye out for her arch enemy!!

Despite being a couple of minutes drive from where I stay when I visit Scotland, I have very few pictures of Castle Stalker that I'm actually happy with. This one isn't too bad I think, although I would have preferred a slightly higher tide.
