Challenging the tide on Cofete Beach

Taken on a very misty day in Barnes's Grove, Buckinghamshire, I was quite taken by the way this Beech seemed to move through the wood.

Take a break and read a bedtime story with ma Dane, he never would confess it but he is enjoying a good story and a warm drink ♥

Autumn and winter are my favorite seasons :)

Being the Spring equinox (well here in the Southern Hemisphere anyway) I thought some florally pastely whimsy might be appropriate. Hit 30C today, yay! Time to start swimming on the beaches instead of just photographing them.

Fun fact about the equinox. As you know it marks the tipping point from days being shorter than nights, to days becoming longer than nights. BUT .., days and nights are equal in length (each 12 h) for the southern hemisphere two or three days before the technical spring equinox and most of Australia sees about 12 h 8 min. of daylight on the spring equinox itself. This is because our atmosphere refracts sunlight so that we can see the Sun just before it's risen in line with the horizon and just after it's passed below the level of the horizon at sunset. Seeing the sun before it rises! Science amazes , and confuses me!

Happy equinox wherever you are in this fascinating world of ours :)

This week I have been working on merging photos with flower backgrounds. Instead of using blends I have tried to use masks to remove or fade parts of the photos that I don't wants. I am still trying to find a suitable topic for my final submission.

Mariupol is still under siege with mass graves being discovered.

Being a cat person, I thought it was quite fitting that the last animal I encountered before leaving Costa Rica was this gal.

I opened up my balcony doors, she looked at me briefly, then went back to watching something moving on the ground.

We had a 1/2 hour visit while I had breakfast, then she carried on with her day. :)

After being at work from 6:15 am until 7:15 pm ... by the time I got home and ate a quick dinner, when I looked outside around 8 the sky looked like it could potentially be colorful. I debated whether to head out in a rush down to the river (about a 15 minute ride) ... and decided I needed to get a break from the stress of work and enjoy a few minutes of the day.

Was not disappointed with the colors ... here is a 10 second capture made with the 64ND (6 Stop) filter.

Interesting how by this time of the year the sun is setting way up river as opposed to beyond the end of the pier like it does in winter. Limits the compositions.

Being thankful I have a garden at this time, I've decided to try and bring you a shot from the garden everyday, regardless of subject matter!!

Could put lots of archive stuff on, but need a project to stop me going insane! Anybody else care to join in feel free!!

Never seen a Sparrowhawk fly over my garden before, but that said I've never really looked, who needs Abberton reservoir!!!!

I'm not being mean, I'm just being me ♪

Being deeply loved by someone gives you strength, while loving someone deeply gives you courage.

These are not spring blossoms - it's heather, which blooms in the winter here, as well as in summer.

Being now retired I have the freedom to go and look at some rarities. This Steppe Great Great Shrike (or Steppe Grey Shrike) spent about a fortnight on the east cost of Scotland (Dunbar) from its breeding range of Central Asia from the Caspian to Inner Mongolia. The feeling of being hooked can be devastating or absolutely marvelous

I'm hooked on so many things

Luckily my things are of the good stuff

At least, finally

Like life

I'm hooked on life, I'm pretty high sometimes, I'm so EvaThrilled from time to time that I feel I'm having a out of a body experience

I think life is getting better and better

And how can I not feel that

Love is out there

Friendship is out there

Mother Nature is out there

It's so important to sort out the things you don't want in your life

Swooooosch away with it

Either it's people or things

If they are not good for you, you really shouldn't deal with them, using your valuable time

We don't know how long time we will have left here on earth

My time is used on the things I value the most

And of course I have a boring job from time to time, and there are some boring stuff I need to do, but it shouldn't be a burden, if I had felt my job as a burden I would at least have skipped it or diminished the burden somehow.

My everyday life is so important, I'm a Carpe Diem'er for sure

I love life

....sometimes that's all you need in life

These are redwoods from a grove up in Northern California, in Jedidiah Smith Redwoods State Park. These awe-inspiring, beautiful giants have been there for a while, some of them perhaps for a thousand, perhaps even fifteen hundred years. Will they still be there two hundred years from now? Or five hundred years from now?

Just add water, oh and batteries *not included

So it's now Winter in Sydney. June, 2024.

But nobody told the roses!!!

They keep blooming like it's Spring or Summer.

This is 'Just Joey' in my garden.

'Just Joey' is a hybrid tea-rose.

Photographed last Friday, 7th June, 2024.

The bokeh consists of the fiery red leaves of my Canadian Maple 'Lipstick Red' tree which is now in its full Autumn colours - despite it being Winter. The subtropical nature of Sydney's climate alters the seasons.

Thankful that I had the time this year to visit pretty West Virginia in the Fall, thankful Mrs. Krach let me get up early and let her sleep letting me explore the highlands, thankful I was able to get up an hour before sunrise to get to this spot ... and thankful to have this glorious light and view to take in.

Also very thankful for the Canon engineers that make these captures digitally even possible, thankful for those that keep the internet powered each day so we can share, and thankful for everyone else out there that does their part in making societies around the world possible. We are all in this together, and make the world around us a better place.

Happy Thanksgiving Day!
