Swedish Museum of Natural History expedition to Vietnam 2013, sponsored by National Geographic Global Exploration Fund Northern Europe.
These delicate flowers were past their best when this photo was taken.
Begonia Erythrophylla a houseplant normally grown for its foliage and commonly known as Beefsteak Begonia.
Species begonia from Chiapas, Mexico. Leaf surface has a nice sheen to it, sort of iridescent.

Underground tuber-like rhizome, showing new growth after overwintering in the ground with a low of 15 degrees and only a light mulch for protection.
Just some begonias at Oak Brook shopping center. For some reason begonias are challenging to photograph. I suppose it's because they are quite small and the way they grow makes it hard to get the DOF right. I don't have a macro lens and didn't have a tripod but this came out pretty well.
