I told you I had shot a few flowers before I had surgery to work on while healing. So here is another.
A very interesting email from a sculptor who has been selected as one of the 4 finalists to sculpt the inaugural medallion for the next presidential inauguration. He wants to use a couple of my eagle shots for the reverse. How Cool is that. :)

(162/365) Begonias might not be the most insect friendly flower with all their frilly petals but I do love them
A Rex begonia (Escargot) leaf backlit by late afternoon sun! Pretty cool colours and textures! I had forgotten these!!
Begonias in the Conservatory, Ballarat Botanic Gardens. Rex begonias are tropical plants, prized for their colorfull patterned and intriguingly shaped leaves. Although they are at home in a shady garden, they are also popular as conservatory and houseplants.
Found this spot in our begonias where blossoms of three different colours came together. Happy Macro Monday!
Used 36mm of extension tubes. Focus stack of 16 images.
... which flowered brilliantly last season for us. It was slightly fragrant. I bought two small tubers in a pack from Wilkos. The first one (in the photo) cascaded down the front of our living room shelving. The second one I planted got off to a late start as I had overwatered it.

You can’t really stare at the leaves of this Begonia for too long without feeling giddy 😂 The colours and patterns on this one’s really crazy.

I just completed this 16" x 20" acrylic on canvas based on a wonderful photo by shinichiro* so graciously offered to me for painting located here: www.flickr.com/photos/crazyshin/238308833/
I had a wonderful time painting this as I absolutely LOVE orange (and purple). In the shadows at the top are touches of interference purple creating the iridescent shimmer that begonia petals have. What drew me to this photo too was the dramatic shadows he so wonderfully captured.
