This time I decided to order food from the dining menu. I was going to have the Ricotta tortellini with wild mushrooms and parmesan cheese. Unfortunately they ran out of it so I decided to try BA gourmet beef burger: Croxton Manor cheddar, potato wedges and garden salad.

A year ago today I joyously partook of a beefburger. And we got notification of our emigration visas!

Gourmet Hamburger with Lettuce Tomato and Onions

Today was the AP / AR Christmas lunch with secret santa.

We all trotted off down to the Occidental, where I ate most of the biggest burger I have had in a very long time - I never got through the bottom bun though!

(and then I also really didnt need to eat for the rest of the day! Good thing Mark had his work do in the evening, because my dinner was two slices of toast)

Biggest bonus about today? only 15 days to go and I have completed a 365 challenge!

Yum. I'm not really a connoisseur but this tasted very good, and the fries were great too.

Rachel and I liked the idea of beefburgers for supper - but the only ones we had in the freezer were of the kind that disappear when you grill them. So I had to commit heresy and use rump steak to make my own... here seen ready to grill.

Technically, there is no such thing as beef burgers. Hamburgers were actually named after people from Hamburg and had nothing to do with ham, unless beef burgers were invented in Beefburg?

America's most famous cannibal.

Alferd Griner Packer (January 21, 1842 – April 23, 1907) was an American prospector who confessed to cannibalism during the winter of 1874. He and five other men attempted to travel through the high mountains of Colorado during the peak of a harsh winter. When only Alferd reached civilization, he claimed that the others had killed each other for food, and confessed to having lived off the flesh of his companions during his snowbound state and to having used it to survive his trek out of the mountains two months later. After his story was called into question, he hid from justice for nine years before being tried, convicted of murder, and sentenced to death. Packer won a retrial and was eventually sentenced to 40 years in prison for manslaughter.

In 1968, students at the University of Colorado Boulder named their new cafeteria grill the "Alferd G. Packer Memorial Grill", with the slogan, "Have a friend for lunch!" Students can order an "El Canibal" beefburger, and on the wall is a giant map outlining Packer's travels through Colorado.

Maybe it's the frozen variety, but Malaysia's iconic homegrown burger is appallingly foul-tasting and the horrific texture was like this.

Whilst looking through a derelict farmhouse I spotted this shopping bag in the corner of a cupboard it felt as though it had something in it , I tried to unzip it but the zip just fell to pieces revealing the contents of the bag which was tinned food from what I could make out the sell by date on the beefburgers seemed to be Oct 77!

A somewhat tatty sign outside McDonalds in Fallowfield. All those burgers look the same to me - then again I've not set a foot inside since the children were little.
