La lumière rasante trahit l'existence d'un tout petit point de tissu en relief... Un point de beauté, je dirais.

The low-angled light betrays the existence of a tiny stitch of raised fabric... A point of beauty, I'd say.

This is my first photo of a product "advert style".

What do you think?

I is therefore I be.

Gotta get some better backing material though. I can't be enigmatic with that damn creased cotton bedsheet. Hahaa._PDS6557

The hardwood floors in the house worked VERY well for these images. I really like the slight reflection.

Jessica is another friend of my daughter. Jessica has been dancing her whole life and is gearing up to study dance in collage next year.

This was one of the most enjoyable shoots I have ever been a part of... Jess was great!!

Over a span of nearly 4 hours she did everything I asked and kept offering more ideas. This is the first of many images from that session.

Poking your tootsies from beneath the bedsheets on a cold, dark winters morning may not be everybody's cup of tea especially on a Sunday when you know its just as easy to stay exactly where you are & forget about it. But when you are rewarded with memorable views like this it makes the moment special knowing that you are there witnessing this display which could have easily surpassed. Admittedly, sometimes its a bit of a gamble & you dont often find the shot you were seeking. I am a true believer of the saying ' what goes around, comes around' , so in my humble opinion if the special effort is made then the rewards will come to you.

Imagine the scene on this particular morning, we got to the location & deciding which way would be the best vantage point was the gamble. Constantly looking at the skyline

knowing there could be a magnificent display on the horizon within the next fifteen minutes. The right hand bank was the choice but this was unknown territory, clambering over walls, fences & ploughing through the bracken in the woodland made it tough going indeed. The thick snow & ice hampered our progress as well as the overgrown treeline along the waters edge obscuring our view. We had to spilt up. This was the only way at least one of us would get a decent shot. I continued along the bank hoping for a break in the trees. My heart pounding with excitement & exhaustion was suddenly interrupted by a family of ducks which i had disturbed & flew right past my face. I nearly gave up as i had gone at least half a mile by this point, then the magical moment came . The golden ball revealed all her glory & lit the woodland up in beautiful warm glows. I spotted some open snow which glistened its beauty towards me. Frantically trying to set my tripod up there was only a few minutes left led to me fumbling irratically. Miraculously, my numb hands seemed to make sense & managed to capture a memorable moment, a special moment, a magical moment. We both got some unique shots & cracked open a flask of hot coffee to celebrate.

Photography is not just about clicking a shutter button its what you are feeling behind the lens. Whether its a landscape, portrait, wedding, rock concert there's so much ambience going on around us which we all need to aware of.

Fresh water ponds accumulate from rain falls in Lençóis Maranhenses because there is bed rock under the sand dunes that prevents water from leaching downward. " Lençóis Maranhenses " means "bedsheets of Maranhão". The waters are fresh, unpolluted, filled with fish and easy to swim in as the ponds are relatively shallow.

I was thinking about the sheer otherworldliness of mass coral spawning events when I created this – but of course they are less colourful.

Partirono le rondini

nel mio paese freddo e senza sole

cercando primavere di viole

nidi d'amore e di felicità.

La mia piccola rondine partì

senza lasciarmi un bacio

senza un addio partì.

Non ti scordar di me

la vita mia è legata a te

io t'amo sempre più

nel sogno mio rimani tu.

Non ti scordar di me

la vita mia è legata a te

c'è sempre un nido nel mio cuor per te

non ti scordar di me.

I totally adored you

I would have stuck by you

through thick and thin

I would have let you

touch my pure and

discerning skin

I almost fell in love with

the man you almost are

I almost stopped myself

from falling in too far

Finally finished quilting my project from a workshop I took from Jacquie at Tallgrass Prairie.

Troy (11 weeks old at time of shot) was sat on a piece of white perspex over a white bedsheet background , bribed this time with puppy treats as he was not worn out, in fact he was full o' beans. I reckon there is a little too much spill from the background on Troy but I want to keep sessions short for him.

I made this little tote bag today using vintage sheets. It is the final project for the Urban Home Swap. Now I just need to photograph everything I made, and collect a few goodies to include :)

I love working with sheets!
