Each time I pass this I have to pull over again to appreciate the power this sculpture of a dinosaur could be so beautifuly crafted with pieces of wood

I co admin a general forum called 'The Cafe', (not flickr related) and we organized a little mini meet&greet today :)

We met up in our beautifu relaxing 'Botantic Gardens' in Adelaide, South Australia :)

There was a few others at the m&g, but they left a bit earlier ..

I took another pic of them all looking back over their shoulders at me, which was really nice, but it came out slightly blurry unfortunately :(

After days of rain there was finally some sun to be spotted after clouds opened up in the evening. In this photo, the tuscany hills around Siena are beautifuly lighted by the low sun. The silhouette of Siena can be seen in the distance, on the right of the photo.

The Madonna with the Child, usually named the "Beautifuly Lady of Mainz", was created in the late gothic style around 1510 and is flanked by St. Martin and St. Boniface. The L. H. wing shows the birth of the Infant Jesus, while the R. H. wing shows the adoration of the Three Magi. The excellently carved figures reflect clearly the artistical connection to gothic figures created in the area of Strassburg and Freiburg and they are attributed to Hans Wydz. Shrine and colouring were added in the 19th century.

Hans Wydz (also Wydyz or Wyditz), an artist of the Upper Rhine region, worked in the Freiburg area. Information about is origin and family does no longer exist.

Called Featherhead, a beautifu winter bloomer.Phylica is a genus of plants in the family Rhamnaceae. It contains about 150 species,[1] the majority of which are restricted to South Africa, where they form part of the fynbos.[2] A few species occur in other parts of southern Africa, and on islands including Madagascar, the Mascarene Islands, Île Amsterdam, Saint Helena, Tristan da Cunha,[1] and Gough Island. The oldest fossils of the genus are of Phylica piloburmensis from the Burmese amber of Myanmar, dating to around 99 million years ago during the mid-Cretaceous.[3]

Over several years, there have been a few vintage motorcycles parked close together right here and they always attract many viewers so getting good pictures of the bikes is tough. Interesting to me is that there have been at least a couple of different beautifuly restored Indian 4's. It wouldn't surprise me if they belonged to the same people although I've not tried to engage in a conversation to find out. I do know that one was ridden in by a woman. You have to be good to start and ride one of these tank shift old bikes. I verified that when I rode an old HD tank shifter. Scared the heck out of me, so I jumped back on my Triumph and was on my way.

21/52 - self portrait challenge

Shot on location at Kolmanskop, Luderitz in the abandoned house seen in yesterdays mosaic in the comments section. There was strong light from the broken window on the left so we set up the reflector board on the right.

I added the shadow of the cage and bird in pp as i wanted to convey sense of ghostliness so evident in this abandoned town. The bird leaving the cage much like the people did the settlement finally in 1956.

I am wearing a dress created by my friend Jacqui Guto Fashions. I got dressed in this outfit and ran around with it for the rest of our stay at Kolmans. We did entertain the tourists as you will read below in the comments section.

Meet Danielle.

I met Danielle quite by chance during a lunch break a few weeks back (am quite delayed on my uploads). I had no plans of any pictures as I stepped out to pick sushi but carried my camera more by habit.

But when I saw this young lady finishing up a lunch with another lady for companion (who I presumed was her friend) I couldn't resist. Approaching them and excusing myself for interrupting their lunch I made my request, and the Danielle was quite willing to participate. I just walked around a few steps to find a decent location and was joined by Danielle and her companion Noella - they indicated they were not in any real rush so we had a few minutes to try out stuff. I request Noella to help with the reflector and she was pretty happy to. Danielle's strong features including her beautiful eyes, fabulous curly hair and a very cheerful happy smile were the the reason she grabbed my attention. It was pretty fun to do these pictures with her as she was open to trying few poses with a lot of confidence as well as chat about herself. Danielle is half African (mom is from Central Africa) and half Caucasian. She works at Bed Bath as a receiving assistant. She is also studying Life Sciences at the Montgomery College, and eventually hopes to becomes dietitian. She considered herself pretty boring as far as hobbies are concerned but enjoys animation and video games. One thing she would like to see is more empathy in people - a wonderful sentiment indeed.

Also on a side note turns out Noela who I had assumed to be Danielle's friend was actually her mother - so it was actually pretty cool to have this fun encounter chatting with these two.

Usually i would have preferred a straight gaze picture for the project. But am going with this one despite the eyes closed just because it was a spontaneous moment where Danielle just expressed how she felt. This pic in a way makes me smile when I look at it with its happy relaxed vibe.

It was wonderful meeting you Danielle and your mom. Hope you like your pictures and if you would like a copy please drop me a note. Wish you all the very best

The beautiful European autumn.

Shot at Georgengarten, Hannover, Germany.

Possibly my favourite photograph i have taken in a long time! However there is not an appropriate gallery on my website , WWW.TheNorthLight.co.uk , for it so it is up on flickr!

I was in a small woodland when Balmedie was shrouded in thick fog. I made a few photos and started heading back when the sun started to burn through the fog. I found this beautifuly bedraggled beech tree showing its new spring growth but still struggling to rid itself of last years dead leaves. The sun had just about burned away all the mist and its rays started to illuminate the forest floor. I set up the camera and made this shot, luckily with the feintest touch of mist in the background to help simplify the scene.

santa_sangre underneath the plastic sheet as part of her metamorphosis act... which was creepily and beautifuly H. R. Geiger-esque.

This is a live version of the act with the plastic sheet at dragon_theatre, which is different from how my before-the-circus renderings came out.

I have to admit I never anticipated so many people using the texture. Seems like I created some kind of mini photographic (amen break) phenomenon.

What a fine sight and it was very nostalgic to travel on this beautifuly restored ex-Leeds car 180. One of a batch of 100 'Horsfield' cars (named after the general manager of the day) and built between 1928 and 1931, the car was amongst the last of the fleet to operate up until the abandonment of the Leeds syatem in 1959.

The Grand River meanders slowly past the Pilkington Overlook near Elora, Ontario.

This is one of my favorite spots to find some peace and quiet. Seldomly visited, except by fly-fisherman, this scenic bluff offers beautifuly views of The Grand River and the surrounding country side. The sunsets at this location can be as grand as the river.
