Myself and the rest of the Xynthetic collective have been fortunate enough to have a private exhibition inside my workplace of Aardman Animations, here in Bristol.
It's been a mix of work from our Glasgow show 'Northern Exposure' and also new pieces especially for Aardman.
I wanted to do something new, but i didn't want to paint another monster as my monsters are pretty rubbish, so I thought i'd try and do something different.
I've got a text file on me computer that I just keep a collection of words and phrases that I say and I like, and 'Beards & Blades' was a phrase I liked and so wanted to use that in some way.
And here's what it ended up being, A beard and some blades, in gold. I was really pleased with the outcome, so im glad I tried to do something different.
Big thank you to Aardman for making it possible.

During this past fall (Fall 2006) I decided to grow a beard. Never had one before and I thought I looked good with one. This was taken by myself and I actually took the time to clean it up a bit before taking the photo.

This is my Dr.Light piece, aka Beard Party, for the Mega Man Boss Battle show that's currently online at megamanbossbattle.tumblr.com. The physical show opens March 2nd at Gauntlet Gallery in SF.
My lack of a beard was shocking. Women have been commenting all week about how quickly it came back.

Playing around with long exposures and motion at night sure can be fun ... this one was taken in Chicago's Millenium Park.

In 1990, Paul had to shave his beard for a respirator fit test - on the off chance he had to go out to a dangerous hazardous waste site. We decided to do it in stages to see what different styles would look like. There's a matching series with Carlos as he shaved his beard, too.

This is my attempt at the Anchor beard style. The mustache wax I used in both my mustache & goatee was not very impressive. The mustache wouldn't stay twirled out, and the goatee wouldn't stay in a point.
Mark, pictured elswhere in my photos, was making his annual visit to
Melbourne today. I've not seen him for a couple of years, so we just had to snap this picture. Snapped by my colleague, Michael.
Our very good friends Glenys and Peter made us a scrapbook chronicling the 40 years that Pam and I have been married. In fact the content goes back even further than that with pictures of Pamela at school.
There were photos in there that we have never seen including this one which is totally unique.
If you look closely you can see what is missing from my face.
There have been only two occasions when I have been without a beard since 1966 and this is one of them.
