I really shouldn't eat these for a variety of reasons, but I find them so hard to resist... ^^; I wanted to try the pumpkin one, but I wanted the chocolate one more at the time. So I got the pumpkin one to bring back to CT and told my dad he could have half. Unfortunately the next day I was late for dinner and my dad "forgot" I wanted to have part of it and he ate the whole thing because he was hungry. Sigh.
The Great Beard Experiment of 2014 came to its conclusion tonight. I let the boys do the honors of removing it from my face. Each got to carve something into a cheek (Andy's says "HI!"), and then reduced from full beard to goatee, to mustache, and finally back to "normal" (whatever that means).
Beard season for me usually runs 1 October - 1 April.
This year I wore my beard longer and when April 1 came, trimmed it down to a goatee for a while.
Next stage in the trim-down to the mustache.
i cleaned it up a little this morning. it still looks kinda scraggly in person, but you can't tell here.
CEIP/2010.
Update: This is a series I did in 2011, collaborating with Paige Steplewski. This is a male identity project, specifically about beards. The beard is specifically male, for the most part, some men choosing to keep clean, others who prefer the beard. I feel like the beard is a facial accessory, kind of like make up for women, that men choose to have. This project goes into portraits of bearded men, asking them why they choose it, what the societal assumptions are and what inspired the decision. I am currently working on a male identity project. I have yet to think of a title BUT I am photographing men with beards, asking them what it means to them to have a beard and why they choose to have one. There are many more photos to come, as well as video.
