This Reddish Egret was the only one working on a Monday morning on Bolivar Flats. Its attire was already trending toward breeding plumage and coloration more than a week before Valentines Day.

"Old man's BeardOld man’s beard or ‘traveller’s joy’ – Clematis vitalba This is a vigorous climber. The French name for old man’s beard is ‘herbe aux gueux’ – the beggar’s or rascal’s herb. This is a reference to its use by beggars; they used its acrid sap to irritate the skin to give it a sore and ulcerated look – in order to induce sympathy in, and perhaps a donation from, passers by!"

In the UK and many parts of Europe, it may be seen in a variety of habitats such the edges of woodlands, hedgerows, or within woods where a gap in the canopy has formed; though it does tend to like chalky soils. Whilst it is fairly common in the south of England, it is less common as one goes north.
Ol Man’s Beard, Clematis vitalba, can be found in abundance along the hedgerow the moment. It is also referred to as Traveller’s Joy I suppose because of its beautifully scented flowers against which the W horses would have stumbled wafting up beautiful scents. The small greenish white flowers turn to feathery seed heads come Autumn so@etimes also called Father Christmas heads. Theses were blowing in the wind on a grey day, definitely looking like an overgrown whisky whitened beard.
The Astilbe are in full bloom in a wide range of colors. Time to enjoy them before the heat waves and smoke.

False Goat's Beard 3903
Natures Fireworks. Yellow Goat's Beard.
Yellow goat’s beard and yellow salsify. It’s an attractive, but rather unremarkable yellow flower whose presence often goes unnoticed; however its three to four-inch globe-shaped seedhead is eye-catching and resembles a giant dandelion on steroids. And when the sunlight hits the seedhead just right, it’s stunning.
Our view of the Pacific Ocean from Beards Hollow Overlook. A bluff north of North Head Light House at Cape Disappointment. This view point is overlooking Beards Hollow south of Seaview.
History note: Captain Lewis & Clark reached the Pacific Ocean near modern-day Seaview, Washington, November 15, 1805.
It's a simple view of pure nature landscaped with beautiful evergreen trees, a beach shore when tide is out is reachable by foot or vehicle. Today, it was 115f in town, here 66f key weather with low cloud marine haze over the ocean...it was the perfect day to cool off.
Thank you all for your kind visits much appreciated..have a wonderful day. I'm so excited to finding this made Explore #220, July 23rd ~ thank you so much!!

But is growing a beard obligatory under Islam?
Professor Muhammad Abdel Haleem, of the School of Oriental and African Studies at the University of London, says "this is not the only view expressed by Muslim scholars."
Many Muslim scholars now do not see the beard as an obligation and do shave their beards.
Muslims learn about the Prophet's views on facial hair not from the Koran, but through hadith - or sayings - attributed to Muhammad.
One such hadith, in a collection by Muslim scholar Muhammad al-Bukhari centuries ago, stipulates: "Cut the moustaches short and leave the beard."
The Prophet Muhammad is believed to have had a beard and those who insist that devout Muslims grow beards argue that they are doing no more than asking the faithful to emulate the Prophet's actions.
Ich hatte schon ein Bild in dieser Art hier und dies ist nun das zweite Bild . Es ist der Start von einer Serie rund um die Welt, immer wieder Menschen aus verschiedensten Länder und ihre passende Kleidung, Tracht usw dazu......

Close-up candid street photography from Glasgow, Scotland. The shot was all about that amazing beard and how magnificently it frames his face. I love it in combination with the trimmed moustache. Enjoy full screen detail by pressing 'L' or clicking on the image.

This pup was dragging itself back up to the beach after practising its hydro manoeuvres in the shallow water. It seemed to enjoy the sensation of the water lapping under its belly, and in this case, frothing over its mouth to form a milky sea beard.

This photo is a birthday present for a friend of mine. He's becoming ever more geriatric than I know (he says). One of his decadent hobbies is to create internet aliases and then to delete them and to enjoy when people recognize him and when people don't recognize him. So I don't know which of his aliases to refer to. Let me call him using his Flickr alias - americanequalsplastic.
Happy Birthday, Professor Americanequalsplastic Longhair!
