I've been sporting what I call my "apathy beard" - close to three months of no trimming of any sort, hair or beard.
I'm currently soliciting entertaining suggestions of what to do with my hair and/or beard on New Year's - photographic results to be posted on Flickr. I reserve the right to shave off whatever I do, but I do intend to do something fun. :-)

The Osaka-based Beard Papa, taking over the world one cream puff at a time...
Beard Papa’s. Falls Church, Virginia.
I saw one of these in a design magazine and decided to give it a try with some scraps I had. It's held on by elastic so that I can wear it with my bike helmet. And I look like my Dad except he had a blackish beard.
Not all of us have the luxury of a gigantic piece of fur on our face... but we can hang out with those who do, and give them fussy kisses.. I guess Ive been sleeping with a caveman the past month and the warm fuzzy nights have inspired me to paint this (this fuzzy man is my husband who now thinks he is neanderthal)

The only time in his life he grew a beard. I'm told it was for a centennial celebration in Geneva, Ohio. My brother thinks he looks a bit like The Most Interesting Man in the World from the Dos Equis commercials. I agree.
I haven't been on Flickr much lately because of Dad. He's in very poor health, and has just days left to live. Cancer has taken over his body. It's a rough time. Finding this photo has brought a little bit of joy though in a very difficult time.
Update: Dad passed away this morning.
John likes the beard ... a lot. This photo was taken on Monday March 12, 2007, on the beach near Sarasota, Fla. John and I were there to attend his cousin Stephanie's wedding.
