Myself and the rest of the Xynthetic collective have been fortunate enough to have a private exhibition inside my workplace of Aardman Animations, here in Bristol.
It's been a mix of work from our Glasgow show 'Northern Exposure' and also new pieces especially for Aardman.
I wanted to do something new, but i didn't want to paint another monster as my monsters are pretty rubbish, so I thought i'd try and do something different.
I've got a text file on me computer that I just keep a collection of words and phrases that I say and I like, and 'Beards & Blades' was a phrase I liked and so wanted to use that in some way.
And here's what it ended up being, A beard and some blades, in gold. I was really pleased with the outcome, so im glad I tried to do something different.
Big thank you to Aardman for making it possible.

During this past fall (Fall 2006) I decided to grow a beard. Never had one before and I thought I looked good with one. This was taken by myself and I actually took the time to clean it up a bit before taking the photo.

Playing around with long exposures and motion at night sure can be fun ... this one was taken in Chicago's Millenium Park.
In 1990, Paul had to shave his beard for a respirator fit test - on the off chance he had to go out to a dangerous hazardous waste site. We decided to do it in stages to see what different styles would look like. There's a matching series with Carlos as he shaved his beard, too.
