They are supposed to be "conversation" jelly beans....like the traditional hearts.....but you can't read most of them. Oh well- they still taste yummy and disappear quickly around here! :}

Under the Bean, you can get lost in the face. Talk about an abstract opportunity. This should be a lot easier t find me...

Hope you have a great weekend!

I bought some discount beans to feed the animals during my visit to Chip-In Farm today. I'll have to learn this goat's name. He was the only one to brave the drizzle and come out to get a treat by the fence. I'm reaching out and holding my camera over the fence.

Day 173: This is me and my friend April reflected in the Bean sculpture at Millennium Park in Chicago. I had a wonderful trip, which I can't even begin to go into here....I'd be typing forever and I'm pretty darn tired lol

Snapped this up at Sprouts this morning.

One of the most delicious meals there is! Pinto beans, cornbread, onion, and jalapenos. Salud!

Before they become the musical fruit they are a very pretty flower :)

Just another quick coffee bean macro shot. Still love to see those rich textures.

Learning a new lens

This bean is about 1 cm (0.394 inches) in length. So, it is very large. Shot with the kit lens + 68mm of extension tubes.

Horrid weather outside so having a play with my newish 35mm lens and how it copes at closeish distances.

Loving the snow

It had been a pretty long time since getting out with camera in hand in Chicago--about 2 and a half years since my son was born. The family opted to spend the weekend in the city and being only a few blocks from the bean, I opted to get up early and soak in the sight. It turned out to be a great sunrise and was followed by equally incredible donuts. It was a good weekend.

Please follow me if you like my B&W photos, I am not the best photographer as I take most of my shots from my wheelchair so I cannot get into the best places/positions to take a photo but I try my best. Lee.

The reflections in the Bean (designed by Anish Kapoor) are AMAZING!

going on with some food photography. Today: Bacon-wrapped Beans :)

July 3rd is national Eat Your Beans Day - a “live healthy” holiday. This day celebrates the bean vegetable in all sizes, shapes, and colors. My healthy version of huevos rancheros includes black beans, poached eggs, roasted peppers, tomatoes, and (less healthy but irresistible) cheddar cheese, all on a lovely tortilla.

Fun facts about beans:

•There are over 40,000 varieties of beans

•China is the top worldwide producer of green beans

•Beans have been part of the human diet for thousands of years, probably dating back to when Man first walked upright.

•The world’s largest bean pods can grow up to 5 feet long.

•The USDA recommends adults eat three cups of beans a week.

•Beans from thousands of years ago, are genetically very close to the beans we eat today.

•6 to 11 percent of a cooked bean’s weight is protein.

•If you eat beans regularly, you will have less flatulence from them.

•Dry beans are better for you than canned because they contain less sodium. Frozen beans have less sodium, too.

•You can freeze cooked beans for up to six months. Before reheating thaw them in the refrigerator overnight.

•Rich in antioxidants, beans lower the risk of cancer.

•In Nicaragua, newlyweds are given a bowl of beans for good luck.

•Beans can be made into burgers, cakes, drinks, pies, fudge, muffins, jewelry, bean-bag chairs, toys, and musical instruments.

Mr Bean going BREXIT

for lack of sufficient information, i will simply describe this plant as a bean flower. i saw this while doing a street photoshoot and found the blooms irresistible to capture. the plant produces a bean like pod. the closest plant it resembles is a lima bean plant or Phaseolus lunatus but needs more verification

When I was in Chicagos Millenium Park with the already famous Cloud Gate (The Bean) close by I remembered a description in a book (Adobe Photoshop CS4 for Photographers - The Ultimate Workshop by Jeff Schewe and Martin Evening) about how to create an aerial fisheye lens effect and thought why not give it a try. Well I did some things right and some things wrong (only using 8 shots for a 360˚ pano is one of the bad things and not having your tripod available is another) but with a few extra hours in post processing and reducing the resolution I believe it looks quite okay for a first try.

I found a nice tutorial afterwards which describes quite well how these "polar panoramas" can be created at Dirk's Photo Blog (note step 3: "The rest is just a little digital darkroom work")
