I started this beach plum tree from seed, and this year, for the first time, it is in bloom! I think it's about 7 or 8 years old, and is one of 3 trees that I was able to get to start. The other two were eaten before they grew big enough to be undesirable to deer and other critters.

Its not likely that it will bear fruit since it needs another plant to pollinate it. We'll see... maybe there are some long-distance bees and birds around!

Jumeirah Beach Hotel in Dubai

In Dubai its almost impossible to get near these amazing world famous buildings for a good angled shot as each hotel has tons of security that wont let you access certain areas unless you are a resident! I actually had to pre book a table at the 360 Bar and spent £150 there all just to get to this location to capture this shot but im glad now I did!

Elmer, this is for you

================================

Dalampasigang aking napasyalan

Tunay na kaygandang pagmasdan

Kaylawak ng kanyang buhanginan

Kaysarap doong makipaghabulan.

Simoy ng hangin kaysarap langhapin

mga mata busog sa ganda ng tanawin

at ang kahabaan ng kanyang baybayin

mga alon ay matyaga itong hampasin.

At yaong mga ulap sa kalangitan

Nakamamangha ring pagmasdan

Bawat minuto kong minatyagan

At iba-ibang anyo aking nasilayan.

Ito ang lugar na madalas pasyalan

At kinawiwilihang kunan ng larawan

Nitong si Elmer na aking kaibigan

mas kilala nyo sa alyas na Soul101.

Kung inyo na ngang napagmasdan

Mga kuha ni Elmer ditong larawan

Tiyak ko ito ay inyong hinangaan

Lalo pa kung sa tunay ay masilayan.

Tunay na paraiso aking napuntahan

At sa ibang araw ito ay babalikan

Upang muli pa ay aking masilayan

Dalampasigang Bagasbas ang ngalan.

Snow storm on Baltrum's beaten beach. The rocks have been under sand and in the dunes for as long as I travel to Baltrum, so a lot of "repairing" is required.

Strand im Winter

Schneesturm auf dem Baltrumer Strand. Die Steine waren unter Sand und in den Dünen solange ich nach Baltrum fahre. Es wird also eine Menge "Reparaturarbeiten" geben.

lonely beach waiting for summer

Kehena beach, big island of Hawaii. Black sands, but pebbles that make it hard to get into and out of the water. But it's NUDE, so who cares?

One of my favourite beaches in the world ..... Applecross on the Applecross peninsula, Scotland. there is only one road in and out and it it very remote. But its a stunning place. The little figure walking his dog on the right two thirds up shows the scale and this is only a small part of it. The white dots are birds!

Just saying...I am not a beach person!

Bull kelp is commonly found washed up on beaches along the West Coast from Alaska down to central California especially in winter once it dies off for the year. When bull kelp is alive it can be seen floating offshore, the floats bobbing in and out of the waves. It ranges in colour from green to brownish-yellow. It is identified by the bulb which acts as a float at the surface of the water and is attached to a long stalk (stipe) which is attached on the ocean floor.

The bull kelp species is a part of the Great Brown Seaweeds which are the highest of seaweeds in iodine content, and their various extracts are exceptionally valuable in both food and medicine for their high vitamin and mineral content. Bull kelp was also used by indigenous peoples for fishing gear and storage containers. Source: UVic CMC.

Salad Beach, Koh Pnahgan, Thailand

A little beach area before you head to Palm Beach.

Sometimes I think Redondo Beach gets all the fun, but the Hermosa Beach Pier is just as cool...possibly even cooler!

For those that haven't had a chance to visit Los Angeles' Southbay, it sits underneath the popular beach side communities like Santa Monica and Venice. This area holds a more quaint beach community attracting far less tourism and way more local activities like paddle-boarding, beach volleyball, and local hangouts.

Along the Strand there are a couple of Pier: Redondo Beach and the other Hermosa. I tend to like the Hermosa Beach Pier a bit more. Between the two, Hermosa is a little newer, though it was rebuilt 1913.

It's not unusual to find people fishing into the night or others enjoying a picnic and a sunset along the top...and who could attest to a sunset much like this one.

A stunningly beautiful, clothing optional beach where many folks go to surf and watch the paragliders from the Gliderport above. The trek down to the beach is steep and the path can get tough at times for tiny kids or older folks so know that going in. (trip advisor)
