4 images today, I couldn't decide which one to post as the "main" photo, so I let flickr decide which one to put on top.
Pink sand beach before sunset, Padar Island, Komodo archipelago, Indonesia. taken after a 3 hour long hike through overgrown rocky terrain with sandals, letting the feet cool off walking mostly in the water, but damn those coral pieces in the sand are sharp and painful!
The wooden observation tower visible in 2 of these photos is where I took the daytime panoramic photo uploaded a few days ago.
Miracle beach is a provincial park just north of Courtenay. Took this photo when we were camping there for the weekend last year.

This photo was taken on an early walk on Rialto Beach in Olympic National Park in Washington State, USA. This photo was processed in an HDR program.
About this photo: On our last day in Olympic National Park we spent most of the afternoon at Rialto Beach where we walked to "Hole in the Wall" at low tide. When the sun was starting to go down, we settled ourselves at some logs on the beach to enjoy the sunset. My eye fell on this huge log sitting on the beach with a big hole in it...I decided I'd have a closer look and noticed you had a nice little view through this natural window. I just had to take a photo of it!

Some information on Rialto Beach: Rialto Beach is one of the most accessible of the West End beaches. It is also one of the most popular beaches on the Olympic Peninsula. Rialto Beach boosts some of the most awesome views of the Pacific Coast. Just a few miles away from the small town of La Push, Rialto Beach is an easy hike, with Hole-in-the-Wall a popular destination.
Rialto Beach starts at the mouth of the Quillayute River and extends 6.5km/4mi past sea stacks and tide pools. The winter months bring heavy storms which can be enjoyable to watch, as well as rewarding. As the beach turns northward, Cake Rock is the massive sea stack that rises far up out of the churning sea. Dahdayla Island is also a sight to see but is much closer to the beach. It is recommend coming at low tide, but you can traverse the beach quite nicely no matter what tide it is.
Some information on Olympic National Park: Olympic National Park is located on the Olympic Peninsula west of Seattle and in the most north western corner of the mainland of the USA. This park is such a diverse and amazing place to visit. No wonder they say it's 3 parks in one! You can enjoy the amazing surf and beautiful beaches, you will see a spectacular alpine country dotted with sparkling lakes, lush meadows, glaciers, waterfalls and North America's finest temperate rain forest.
Olympic National Park is a wilderness park with much of its interior accessible only by trail. A variety of roads lead off the major Highway (101) to various destinations around the park. There are several scenic drives including the drive to Hurricane Ridge, along the Pacific Coast and through the forested valleys of the Sol Duc, Hoh and Quinault Rivers. This all provide glimpses of Olympic National Park's diversity.

A beach hut (also known as a beach cabin, beach box or bathing box) is a small, usually wooden and often brightly coloured, box above the high tide mark on popular bathing beaches. They are generally used as a shelter from the sun or wind, changing into and out of swimming attire and for the safe storing of some personal belongings.

i took a few of my pieces to the beach today. they wanted to play in their natural habitat. i think they do a good job of blending right in.
A pirate ship (minus the pirates!) loaded with tourists travel along the Lover's Beach on the Sea of Cortez side. Pacific Ocean lies at the background of this famous Playa del Amor.

Once known as Playa de Doña Chepa, Lover's Beach is another must, but to get to this hidden cove you'll need some kind of floating transportation. Easiest is to hire a water taxi at the marina. The captain will take you on an informative tour of the diving areas around the arch (El Arco), point out Lover's Beach, then go around the popular point for a wonderful view of the dramatic area where the Sea of Cortez meets the Pacific Ocean. We suggest you pack a lunch of your choice, some water and plan on spending the better part of the day enjoying Lover's Beach and the striking wind and water shaped rock formations. Ask your skipper to come back for you at a pre-determined time...all for one price. Be most careful here, the powerful waves and currents of the Pacific make swimming quite dangerous. Swimming and snorkeling should only be attempted on the Sea of Cortez side of Lover's Beach.

Playa del Amor is the photogenic marvel hidden behind Land's End and is seen in many of the travel ads for Cabo San Lucas and Los Cabos. Ironically, it's delightfully small and difficult to get to on foot. Getting there is easy by water taxi; much harder (and not suggested) is to climb the rocks from Playa Solmar. Once on Love Beach, you are surrounded by smooth, towering rocks and water on two sides. In 1940, the population of Cabo San Lucas could practically be counted on both hands, yet John Steinbeck's description of what was then known as Playa Doña Chepa is still apt and thought provoking more than half a century later:
"The tip of the Cape at San Lucas, with the huge gray Friars standing up on the end, has behind the rocks a little beach which is a small boy's dream of pirates . . . and this little beach must so have appealed to earlier men, for the names of pirates are still in the rock, and the pirate ships did dart out of here and did come back."
