Shi Shi Beach (Olympic National Park)

The walk to the beach is not easy but definitely worth it. After we have mastered the steep path down to the beach, we enjoyed the beautiful landscape.

I tested some different adjustments and decided to use a longer exposure.

Couple of my friends asked me whether they are opal stones. They are not.

Shot at the shore where the stones where hit by the waves.

To me, the dry stones looked pretty normal; but vibrant when wet.

Looks better in fullscreen and ideal for desktop ;)

All going a bit dark and moody for the recent posts so thought I ought to add a bit of colour.

I know there are 5 huts but this is the 4th shot posted from Calshot.

Sunset Beach located in North Carolina is absolutely beautiful. Most of these pics were taken from the pier.

A stunning pristine white beach, clear turquoise waters, sunny skies - the Med? the West Indies? No, this is a remote corner of north-western Scotland - in October!

This view shows the main beach at Achmelvich (Gaelic: Achadh Mhealbhaich) in Sutherland. The name comes from the Gaelic "Achadh" - a plain or meadow and "mealvaich" - sandy dunes. It is a (very) small settlement at the far end of a single-track road with a Youth Hostel (seen on the right above), campground, caravan park, laundrette, shop and take-away.

Dogs are banned from the beach during the main tourist season and are also not permitted at the campground and caravan park.

The stunning white beach is typical of what can be found all along Scotland's north-western coastline.

As the birds fly by and the sun sets, beach walking is just the thing.

Becka and I ventured out for an early morning session at Black's Beach, the notorious nudie beach in San Diego.

The Adobe Creative Jam in San Diego I participated in last Thursday had me feeling a little nostalgic for the "just go shoot" days. I let the inspiration come to me this day, without trying to force myself to shoot anything specific. It's a very refreshing state of mind.

There's a reason people venture down the cliffs to get here and trust me, it's definitely not just for FTN. (Though we did get approached by the self-proclaimed naked "ambassador" of the beach who tried to give me some lighting tips...)

Sometimes a scene just falls into place, Regular reviewers may recall my dabbling with beach scene studies last Summer and I am attempting to refine my efforts in this genre again.

Running out from work at 8pm did not leave me many options for shooting the sunset. I went down to the beach and tried to capture some interesting looking splashes.

Just a small detail taken on Severn Beach. The cracks in the dry sand make an interesting pattern.

Pre-dawn colour in the sky looking east along Dunster beach on the Somerset coast. This lovely scene only lasted 10-15 minutes and rapidly turned grey and, later in the day, ended with storm and flood warnings for this same coastline.
