Elephants working deep in the forests of Central Burma (Myanmar) expect their bath at the end of the day, so here the oozie (Burmese term for the Indian mahout), is required to do the honours in the only water available, a rather inadequate stream. 21st December 1996.

forgot to take a photo today so i just took this while sam was getting a bath :) i had to put the eyeball there bc i didnt want to risk it with nudity or whatever
"Hey, Sev!" Zephyr called as he stood at the edge of the tub, camera in paw. "Smile! You too, Khaleesi!"
A smile wasn't exactly what Zephyr got. More like confusion as to why his bath was being interrupted from his mate, and a shocked look on his daughter's face. Chuckling, Zephyr shrugged and went to go wake Khalypso for her bath, dressed in the swimming trunks that he always wore to bathe his daughters.

Rest assured, small as she may be, waking Khalypso is like waking a dragon with a severe hangover. I feel sorry for Zephyr already.

Today I met Tony at Plonk Barn and we walked down the river to Cuckmere Haven and then back again. There are paths both sides of the river and although the weather was patchy with mist showers and a little sunshine we had a really good walk and as you can see by my images there was a great deal to see and do. From crazy Magpie to a flock of Curlews in flight a Buzzard that flew right over our heads I could go on but I won't I will just leave you with my images.

IMPORTANT NOTES: Kelly's robe and towel were available in two variations--with yellow trim or with pink trim (see comparison photo for reference).
PERSONAL FUN FACT: I can't even begin to tell you how many of these bathtubs I own...it's ridiculous. I seem to have no trouble at all finding the tubs at the flea market in random doll lots. The stuff shown here all came with my formerly boxed blonde Bathtime Fun Kelly (except the pink robe, which is from the flea market). Her stuff is in excellent condition. Despite the fact that I have opened a total of three Bathtime Fun Kelly dolls in my lifetime, only this girl still has all her things. My first childhood gal, Kelsey, lived through the early days of my doll journey. When I was four/five years old, I wasn't responsible with my doll stuff. And to top it off, we didn't have many clothes for our Kelly dolls, which meant her outfits got used all the time. And so her clothes ended up stained, ripped, and generally destroyed (although I've done my best to fix them up). I also lost her bar of soap and her duck sponge...and her pacifier is a bit bent. My second African American doll, who was once boxed, is only missing her duck sponge. I don't remember how that even happened. The only other flaw with this doll's accessories is that the contents of her box were VERY faded when I got her in 2002. Whoever originally purchased this doll and kept her boxed did not protect her against UV damage. Therefore the front of her tub is highly faded and has turned orange. So interestingly enough, some of my secondhand dolls' things are in much better condition. It just goes to show you that keeping dolls boxed does not ensure that they will stay pristine.
I have many memories with these these things. But the most notable one that stands out happened in late 2002. Back then, our Memeré lived with us. Dad, Colleen, and I all lived in the basement, while Memeré inhabited the upstairs. I loved Memeré with all my heart, but she could be a VERY difficult person to live with. And what with just having lost Mom that summer, we were all on edge. One day, not long after getting my boxed African American Bathtime Fun Kelly, I decided to give her a real bubble bath. That's one of the best features of this doll--the tub can make bubbles. Since I already had used up her package of bubbles that came with her, I opted to use dish soap instead. I had the bottle of dish soap with me in the basement when Memeré screamed down the stairs, demanding we return the soap. Like me, Memeré was a cleanliness fanatic...in fact she was even worse. For some reason, Colleen and I decided to defy her, and refused to return the soap (which by the way I was done using). Memeré retaliated in an equally childish way, and vacuumed upstairs like a maniac. We could hear the vacuum slamming against the carpeting above us. And so we in turn fired back by blasting my Britney Spears "Oops! I Did It Again..." CD on full volume. Poor Dad...it was like caring for THREE children, not just two. Although I'm not proud of that moment in my life, it does always make me chuckle thinking about how ridiculously we all acted over a simple bottle of dish soap!
Its almost bedtime and that's good, but something about bathwater brings on the crazy and that's bad.
