Mashed potatoes, spinach and two fried eggs. Super basic, but I just love it. I am not a vegetarian but I am getting more and more away of eating meat. Anyway, this picture was made a couple of weeks ago and indeed I try to remember how it was, to wake up in the morning and the only bad news were about Covid.....
About 10 year ago I sold my Commodore PET. I've since regretted it. I searched my old emails, and amazingly I found the one from the buyer when he arranged to come get the computer. I emailed him and after some time he agreed to sell the old PET back to me. I've been very happy to have it back in my house since!
As an aspect of my attempts to become more aware of the woods around the lake as a living, integrated ecosystem, I started looking at the ways that what seems dead is really alive.
Saprobic fungi are those that live from transforming dead trees. The process of ‘white rot’ converts the basic elements of the dead tree back into soil, while giving life to the fungi.
The Cinnabar Polypore does that work on dead deciduous trees, sprouting out of cracks in the bark of fallen trees quite dramatically. The glowing orange-red (it runs through a few shades in that range) is hard to miss, and it starts as a thimble-sized bubble and then grows to a large bracket.
The Cinnabar in the image is a little less than halfway from having burst through the bark to its bracket stage. Other newer/younger eruptions are visible along the trunk.
We lose a lot of trees these days to a fairly dramatic increase in violent wind storms. Walking through the Britannia Conservation area it is easy to see that various life forms working away on the fallen. One of the neat things about these fungi is that they are not obviously impeded by the cold.
One of the things I discovered that I really liked about my first experience photographing birds, and especially birds in flight, was reviewing photos of flocks of flying birds and finding interesting patterns or formations or "stories" within those random flocks. That is, sometimes really fun or amazing, even artistic groupings occurred when I would crop in on a few of the randomly arranged birds I had captured in the wider frame of the shot. In this case the original frame had nine snow geese in total, with eight of them more or less in a line and one flying just above that line. But when I cropped it in to just these four, it immediately reminded me of a military basic training drill, with a drill instructor (the top bird) squawking orders to the "marching" cadets. In the larger frame with more birds, the formation was not as tight and top bird's open bill was less noticeable because it was so much smaller. Not sure if the "basic training" metaphor works for everybody, but it sure did for me!
This shot was taken in the Tule Lake National Wildlife Refuge.

The Royal Pavilion, or Ho Kham Luang in Thai, was the most impressive architecture of the Royal Flora Ratchaphruek 2006. Built in the style of a royal pavilion of the ancient Lanna Kingdom in the Northern part of Thailand, the architecture portrayed the exquisite grandeur, beauty and grace of Lanna architecture which has been passed down through generations.
Built on a raised mound over 3,000 sq.m, the Royal Pavilion proudly displayed the glory of traditional Lanna architecture. The entire support structure was built, without a single nail, using wooden bolts as in the traditional method. Wiharn Sot or the swooping multi-tiered roof tiled was a basic feature of the ancient pavilion which represents the monarchy and distinguishes it from those of normal citizens.

Look close and you can see former LS&I RSD-12 No. 1804 (sans prime mover that was used in a tug) and also C&NW's coaling tower dating back to when their main engine facility was along the waterfront. I uploaded a larger size file so you can see more details.

Have you ever had someone look at one of your photos and comment "Gee, you must have a really nice camera"?
A friend sent me an email the other day wanting to know if he should spend (a fortune) to buy a laundry list of new camera equipment because he wanted to "take better photos".
In response to that, I wanted to post this shot taken with a $199 "point and shoot" 3-megapixel digital camera. I keep it in my briefcase when I'm traveling on business and can't take my D90.
Would this shot have been better with my Nikon? Sure.... there is some noise in the sky due to using a high ISO on a cheap camera and the optics can't match a $1200 lens.... but the basic image would have been the same.
Becoming a better photographer is about learning to see differently, experimenting, learning, challenging yourself - not about how much equipment you purchase.

Found on Tabao, thanks to Chan84nl :) I thought I could post these since Alex only posted Jade. I need this Meygana, I hope she has better quality hair. Bummer they don't come with stands.
Here is the second dress. It will only fit Pullip type 4 bodies because it's just that fitted. I think it looks nice on the doll, I worked hard retweaking the pattern a million times to get a bodice that would be simple and quick to construct, yet also still look elegant. And yes, the lace is sparkly!!!! I hope you like it! 😊
