Arriva North West's MX61 ALU (4477) is seen on Strand Street (A5036), while operating a 500 towards Liverpool Airport. The 500 operates up to every 30 minutes between the John Lennon Airport and City Centre. The livery seems a bit basic (seeing as it's one colour), however, it does still look smart. MX61ALU was new in December 2011 to Arriva Merseyside, but not initially for use on the 500. It is one of three DB300s that were branded up for a service upgrade in September 2016. It is a VDL DB300/Wright Gemini 2

Typical F430 colorway but still looks fantastic. Parked at a doctor's office off of Frank Road in Canton, Ohio.

White House

This handsome Georgian stone house, was the residence of Reverend George Grout who served St. Andrew's Church from 1827- 1849. At age 23, Mr. Grout was appointed Deacon and arrived with his new wife. He lived in the house on Main Street East where his predecessor had tragically died, until this house was ready in 1832.

It was built for Mr. Grout by his father, whose home was in Quebec. It has been said that the house was a way station on the Underground Railway during the days of slavery. Escaped American slaves would find refuge in this home as they searched for freedom across the Canadian border.

Built in 1830 by John Grout for his son, Reverend George Grout. Architectural Significance: The White House is an elegant two-storey Loyalist neo-Classical house. Stone rendered with rough cast and located below the escarpment. The house follows the basic design of the Georgian style. It has a plain classical detail which describes the porch, the main entrance and the window designs. It is also characterized by the symmetrical and simple massing of the structure.

The two-tiered porch, a later addition, has four fluted doric columns with square bases supporting the upper portion of the porch. Plain hand rails are on either side of the main entrance. More decorative balusters and molded hand rails border the upper tier. There is no trim around the structural opening of the main entrance apart from a pair of pilasters that separate the sidelights from the doorway. Both upper and lower windows are similarly designed. The upper windows are in a pattern of twelve panes over eight, the lower larger sashes are twelve over twelve. There is no trim outside the window openings. Within the opening, a plain wooden trim is applied to the window.

The low pitched, hip roof of the main house is trimmed by a plain fascia and moulded soffit. There are three brick chimneys. Each individual stack is similar in construction and each is corbelled with masonryat the top. It would appear that a fourth stack, to the rear of the west side has been removed.

One of the things I discovered that I really liked about my first experience photographing birds, and especially birds in flight, was reviewing photos of flocks of flying birds and finding interesting patterns or formations or "stories" within those random flocks. That is, sometimes really fun or amazing, even artistic groupings occurred when I would crop in on a few of the randomly arranged birds I had captured in the wider frame of the shot. In this case the original frame had nine snow geese in total, with eight of them more or less in a line and one flying just above that line. But when I cropped it in to just these four, it immediately reminded me of a military basic training drill, with a drill instructor (the top bird) squawking orders to the "marching" cadets. In the larger frame with more birds, the formation was not as tight and top bird's open bill was less noticeable because it was so much smaller. Not sure if the "basic training" metaphor works for everybody, but it sure did for me!

This shot was taken in the Tule Lake National Wildlife Refuge.

About 10 year ago I sold my Commodore PET. I've since regretted it. I searched my old emails, and amazingly I found the one from the buyer when he arranged to come get the computer. I emailed him and after some time he agreed to sell the old PET back to me. I've been very happy to have it back in my house since!
