Better than balloons.. capturing "sky raisins" (aka nature's bugs) on meow first birthday.

been having fun digging through some rather old and all but forgotten photos... A number from this "era" 10-12 years ago comprise the very beginning of my Flickr photo stream. Hard to believe I've been hanging out here that long.

King Kieran prancing in the snow.

Taken at Hiram M. Chittenden Locks during the February 2019 snowstorm.

This was one of a few of the most challenging photos I've taken in this type of weather settling. I've never realised how difficult it is to capture anything while it's snowing hard. The flash kept illuminating the flakes so I had to come up with a creative way to light the subject without the distracting snowflakes being lit up.

Every once in a while I love to experiment with focus, such as at the Ballard Locks in Seattle Washington.

A perfect lighting situation at the Ballard Locks in WA. I waited for the sun to pop thru the clouds for a dynamic look and stunning water reflections.

The Chinese Paperbush individual florets are fingernail tip tiny and its scent will simply and pleasantly knock you sideways. The bushes scent can noticed long before you can see it. The fragrance is a bit like gardenia with a slightly spicier element.

Jacques La Flipper started designing games out of sheer boredom. One he came up with was River Pinball. Boats were sent down the river using a spring launcher. Pilots were not allowed to steer the boats in any manner other than having the crew run from side to side to redistribute weight. The object was to enter the locks separating sea water and fresh water while the gate was open. The sailors thought it was great fun. Management was not happy.

Ben T. Bridge had no idea how stressful his new job would be. He had to be alert 24/7. No sick leave. No vacation. Obviously, no paternity leave; he didn't have time to date!

Grief is the moment I start crying in the middle of a joy-filled event wishing he was here.

Every image captured of those who have gone before us possesses a profound ability to awaken treasured memories that hold special significance in our hearts. During this season, the sight of ox-eye daisies never fails to evoke memories of Kieran. Amidst the pandemic's chaos, these daisies flourished uncontrollably, emerging in every corner of the grassy landscapes we traversed like determined weeds, grasping for light and vitality. Over time, they've transformed into symbols of the tender, affectionate moments we shared nestled among them. While they now offer solace, they also serve as emotional triggers, unlocking not just fond memories but also unleashing torrents of tears. As I cherish the comfort they presently bring, these daisies remain bittersweet reminders of our shared joys and sorrows, encapsulating the depth of our connection amidst life's challenges.

I really love this artist. I recently saw a new piece by this person near the old dart store in Lake City that I'm going to have to shoot one of these days.

The Hiram M. Chittenden Locks, often called the Ballard Locks, link salty Puget Sound with the fresh waters of Salmon Bay, Lake Union, Portage Bay and Lake Washington.
