Baked = "Organic baked egg with your
choice of curry over a bed of rice. Topped with melted chedder cheese."
Definitely worth the extra $3.50. I only tried a bite of this. So gooood.
These are so good, really it's better to stay away from them, they are so fluffy and sweet and a bit crunchy!
Miam!
At first this may seem intimidating to make since you have to bake seven layers of cake but the method is really simple and 7 minutes is all it takes to cook one single layer. Besides, the cake is really pretty so I think it was well worth it.
This is the Hansel eggplant pictured previously, sliced, drizzled with olive oil, and layered with seasonings, spinach leaves, Italian blend cheeses, sliced tomatoes, more cheese, more seasoning, and fresh basil.
Mm, mm, good!
Not a fabulous photo, perhaps, but it made for a pretty terrific dinner. :)
For any who are interested in trying it themselves (and I highly recommend it!), I used the Eggplant Tomato Bake recipe from allrecipes.com, with a few modifications. (Since I was using cute little mini-eggplants, I used 5 or 6, instead of the 1 regular eggplant called for.)

Oven-baked layers of noodles, meat sauce and ricotta, parmesan, romano and mozzarella cheeses topped with marinara sauce. We've been told it's better than Mama makes!!
Like many, I'm trying my hand at sourdough baking during COVID-19. This first loaf turned out pretty yummy, but not super sour. The second loaf from this batch is proofing in the fridge overnight, so hopefully will be a bit more tangy.
Thankfully my kitchen is just about big enough for the bake sale to be suddenly moved inside in case of bad weather!!
Baked Contact. The lower part of this outcrop is a nonwelded ash-flow tuff, a unit of the Rhyolite of Sugarloaf Canyon formed during the late Miocene or early Pliocene. The upper part of the outcrop, above the unconformity, is a basaltic andesite flow erupted during the Pleistocene. When the hot lava flowed over the tuff, it oxidized iron-bearing minerals creating the reddish baked zone extending about 8 inches below the contact. Along U.S. 6 east of Montgomery Pass, Mineral Co., Nevada.
notice all the kroger brand items ;) ??? the only thing we really "splurge" on at the grocery store is free range, organic eggs - because they're absolutely FABULOUS & cruelty-free.
Baked actually on the fourth 24-hour period, after three days of rising. The simplest ingredients: flour, water, salt.
Taste: very dark, rich, sour, a bit heavy. Awesome with butter or cheese. An ancient taste, from far older baking times.
Today is baking day in preparation for the holiday. I made cinnamon rolls and in the process of some cookies, which will have to wait for final viewing until after supper.
What am I going to do with 6 pans of cinnamon rolls? And, by the way, that's only half the batch. I still have more dough in the fridge.
Jacques-y-poo is sick; he's been sleeping all day. Poor little guy.
I had to make my own baked tofu for a soup I made last night, because our store doesn't sell it. It was soooo tasty!
OK, my recipe:
One package of firm (or "hard", my package said "hard") tofu
Some soy sauce
Cut tofu into more or less finger sized slices.
Place on paper towels, with more paper towels on top and weight to drain (or however you like to drain your tofu...)
Forget that you don't have soy sauce, and so leave the tofu in the fridge overnight.
Buy soy sauce.
Marinate tofu in soy sauce for about the length of an average CD.
Place in shallow baking pan and bake at 375ish for about 45 minutes, turning once.
Remove from oven and taste the tastiness. Also, take photos as needed.
Mmm!
If I were so motivated, I might even add stuff to the soy sauce for the tofu to soak up while it marinates, like garlic...or...other stuff. But if you have just moved, like I have, and can't find anything other than soy sauce (and maybe you even had to make a special trip to the store to get that) then plain ol' soy sauce will be just fine. Tasty!
Caramelised chunks of baked apple in a cinnamon-apple semifreddo. Lovingly drizzled with caramel apple glaze. Recipe on my blog.
