Today a new addition to my Mamiya family arrived, I was completely surprised! My bestest buddies Jeff & Sandi bequeathed this Mamiya C220 unto me, and I can't thank them enough. Jeff and I have been talking about getting back into shooting film; he bought two additional C220's, which should be fun project cameras. This one needs some TLC, but I'm looking forward to fixing it up right.

My friends and I went to the Christina Aguilera "Back to Basics" concert. We met up with John Groo and Ronnie for dinner at a Mexican restaurant and Carl, Anthony and I went to the Hartford Civic Center for the show :P

Standing on the snow, hoping I'll give him something so that he won't have to dig in the snow for nuts he buried during the summer. The weather is warmer than it was yesterday. It hit 31F (-0.5C), but it is still warmer on top of the snow than it is on bare ground.

This photo is a part of my "Back to Basics" Collection where I am shooting with my EOS Rebel XT and the EF-S 18-55mm Kit Lens. Who say that you need that luxury racing stripe when you have patience and great post processing software.

This was shot in the camera Raw format with 3 exposure (-1 2/3 EV, 0EV, and + 1 2/3EV) and then the images were combined using a custom tone mapping filter in Photomatix Pro. After a bit of enhancement with Photoshop Lightroom, I then processed this with Topaz Clean and applied a modified version of the Curly filter.

It is amazing to see my old faithful hound camera kit learn some new tricks.

On Christmas morning I went to the beach with Andreas. The water was rough and the waves big. Of course I got smashed...twice. Andreas saw this and convinced me to face my fears and go back in. He held my hand and led me through the water, telling me when and where to swim to avoid the waves. I knew then that this would be the beginning of something special...and a special friendship it has become.

With Andreas everything is twice as fun, we laugh so much together, whether we are dancing, hanging out at the beach or just walking in the rain. His enthusiasm and silliness are infectious. He has helped me see whole different aspects to life and has inspired me in many ways. While he can be funny and loud and loves being the centre of attention, he can also be quite, thoughtful and caring. There are many layers to his personality and I am looking forward to finding out more about him as our friendship progresses.

Transportation Director Leah Treat announced today that the Portland Bureau of Transportation surpassed its goal of preserving 100 lane miles of City streets during the budget year that ended June 30.

In 2015-16, PBOT expects to apply more crack sealing to arterial streets, as a way to extend the life of those streets and avoid more costly rebuilds and repaving projects. At a news conference on North Argyle Street, crews demonstrated how it works.

For every $15 million we invest in preventive maintenance, PBOT estimates the City of Portland can avoid at least $50 million a year in future costs.
