Surrounded by the shield of happy air
Swaying to the whistling winds
Away from the worldly chaos
I shall lay my head over them
Take me to the beds of flowers...

" Elle marchait, seule, touchant à peine le sol. Sa famille avant elle avait foulée ces terres depuis longtemps désertées. Elle errait depuis une époque que mémoire d'homme avait depuis longtemps oubliée " Mirillaiqua Doleniel ~RP Character
Merci à mon amie K. de m'avoir permis d'immortaliser ma vision d'un de ses personnages les plus anciens et les plus complexes, je lui dois ma découverte de l'univers de Tolkien bien au-delà des films, et la passion qui en a découlée. #myheartlivesinmiddleearthforever

We've been away for a few days - staying in a yurt with no electricity, a wood stove to keep warm, and minimal connectivity. It was great to get away from all the craziness in the news and take more basic pleasures in things like staying warm, the exhilaration of being in the woods on a snowy day, and the absolute magic of having tiny Chickadees coming to look you over before grabbing a sunflower seed. One can debate the ethics of feeding but on the other side of the coin, these tiny birds were obviously habituated to people and we felt no further harm would be done with a few treats.
This was my first pinhole long exposure and tested it out in my bathroom. The Mia 6x6 is an ultra wide pinhole at 20mm which I think is around 11-12mm in 35mm terms. Lots of vignetting and character if nothing else.

My very first attempt at canning and preserving this past weekend. I made several jars of "Bread and Butter" pickles. The ingredients begged to be a still life, so I gave my first try and an old fashioned, classic still life to commemorate it. The cucumbers were from my mother's garden, and the recipe was from an old 1950's cook book I found in an antique shop years ago.
I've been lightpainting for quite a few years now and it's sometimes good to get back to basics and wave a light around in the dark just to see what happens. Vigorous wafting of home made LED light stick by me.
•This little baby seat is the best seat out there for small children. The attention to detail is simply amazing, and the animations are brilliant.•

A throwback capture from Banham Zoo of a bald eagle that was more than happy to have his photo taken, and then decided to stare me out...

Whilst down on a weekend in Newquay, being able to sit on the decking and take in the sunshine with a nice cup of Cornish Coffee really was an opportunity to relax.
Last Sunday, on a walk in the park of Gaasbeek.
I like this lane. Gives me a peaceful feeling.
And I like to see things from another level than where my eyes are usually.
Every now and then you have to get away from everyone and everything - even when it means pushing through snow squalls with wihiteout conditions, icy roads, and freezing temperatures to get there. There was no cell phone signal here and no interruptions. The only sounds were wind in the trees and the crunching of snow under snowshoes. Staying warm and feeling your breath with the effort brings it all back to basics.
Un nouveau pic historique de consommation électrique a été établi mardi soir, conséquence du grand froid qui se prolonge à l'est et se diffuse à l'ouest
Power demand hits new record.
Freezing temperatures across the vast majority of France saw the record peak of electricity consumption smashed last night, hitting 100,500MW at 19.00.
Another shot I hadn’t posted from some time ago. This and the shot before it where from when I was trying to experiment with lights and shadows. I think the reason I did not post this particular pic was because it didn’t turn out exactly with what I had in mind. Now that I’ve had the time to forget my original thoughts on the pic, I actually like it.
Sometimes I definitely overthink!

We have been growing our own food for about six years now. It's wonderful to eat delicious food straight out of the garden.
Have a wonderful Friday and safe weekend. I hope Hurricane Irene doesn't disrupt the weekend too much for my friends in the NE.
Late last November, Guy( www.flickr.com/photos/ozgfk/22930379874/in/dateposted/ ) and I had a drink and a chat about cameras at a bar along Kandahar Street. Our waitress was cool and friendly, so we asked if she would let us take her portrait. I got her name, wrote it down, and now it's disappeared. If I find that paper, I'll update the photo title here. I recall her saying that she's working at that bar to pay her way through school.
Another enjoyable evening in a flooded Lime Kiln with Tim G and some "back to basics" waving of lights. Created with my new home made LED light wand; this stuff could give me a dose of OCD....
