This photo shows a few of the minor differences in these two XK 120's. Notice the height of the windscreens and the location and detail of the motor, an inline Overhead Cam 6 cylinder. You can also see difference in the details of the headlights and grill.
While most of my collection of some 75 Jaguar XK models (120's, 140's, 150's and XKE's) are the more conventional 1/18, 1/24 and 1/43 scales, I do have about ten that don't fit into the usual 'die-cast' category. These are ones that are either made of glass, plastic, rubber or even coal!!! The ones shown here are from that group...
A note on the photos...these were taken using a translucent light table, mostly using a Nikon SB-24 to illuminate the backpanel and a variety of smaller SB-30's for detail lighting or to light the glass models from underneath the frosted acrylic. In many of the shots I used a colored gel or two for some additional 'pop' to the shot... Exposures were generally 1/4000 of a sec. at f 8.0. None have been enhanced or altered with PhotoShop except for the addition of the 'matting' effect and a few bits of blemish removal..(cat hairs on the table!!)

These are 2 backpanels of Hot Wheels from 1989 and 1990. If you enlarge this photo you can read the back panels. The 1990 package is a different type cardboard and not so clear as the 1989 Collector, but you can see all the cars you can collect for both years.
Wavetronix has decided to simplify the DIN rail mount equipment. Most of the equipment comes ready for RS-485 com now. The nicest thing is that a single serial to Ethernet switch can be used for all devices connected. Before, you needed a separate serial to Ethernet switch for each device, since they were on separate, isolated RS-485 communications channels.
Five of the glass..or 'crystal' Jags. From the front, two XK 120's, the Avon XKE, a crystal XKE roadster and a matching XKE coupe.

Mijn "oude" versterker.
This XK 120 Jaguar is a nice light amber color. I have one that is very similar but not identical in clear glass.

Right side of back panel. The front will be the same, except without the brown shoulder squares. I cast on for the front last night, hoping to keep the momentum going.
Back-panels are often overlooked in the whole design show but I think they are so important too. These don't have much info but what about cereal boxes? Board Game boxes? And so on, there is a lot of info that designers have to arrange in a way that looks good with the overall design. I like to design a back-panel as a part of a complete package!
Various pics of my Oscilloscope computer case.
Started lfe as a 1960's vintage Bell and Howell Schools oscilloscope. Gutted it, added a $10 "plasma disk" in place of the old CRT tube display, did some Dremel'ing, sanding, hacksawing and drilling...and now it's a computer case.
The 'scope itself was about $10 on eBay, the motherboard/CPU is nothing special, a Celeron D 315 2.13ghz and all the other parts are spares, extras, and scavenged stuff from my scrap pile.
The front panel buttons and knobs operate the DVD-RW drive open/close, turning the display on/off, and the reset and power switches.

I know this piece should probably been from White Oak, but it gets worse. I knew there was no way I could build a true piece of A&C furniture, so I felt a bit free to take some license. What we really wanted was a piece that evoked the Arts and Crafts style rather than a faithful reproduction. So for better or worse, here are some of the experiments made with the program:
:•Species - Red Oak: Compliments the existing furnishings, easy to source.
•Plywood Back Panel: Traditionally this piece would have used a shiplap backpanel, but in the name of cost, (and perhaps conservation) I used red oak veneered plywood.
•Simplified Joinery: Based upon my somewhat limited (but growing) skillset, it was decided to take advantage of a few biscuits and pocket screws, but still employ a few M&T joints.
•LED Lighting: While this light is "cooler" than traditional incandescents or halogens, we decided the trade offs of cooler temps, bulb life and energy efficiency would be worth it.
•Cup Hinges: I was more than a bit concerned about maintaining gaps and reveals on a large piece, so the adjustability here seemed like a worthwhile benefit. The size and configuration I needed were only available in silver, but hopefully they will offer them in bronze one day and I can recycle the silver ones on another project.
I realize that some of this is a bit blasphemous, but that was the inspiration and planning in a nutshell... :)
This Matrix unit includes four Matrix detectors on one serial to Ethernet card.
The far right side of the Click! devices include two Wavetronix HD Count stations that are programmed to use one Click! 301 serial to Ethernet device. This is a trial to see if two HD count stations will be able to report on one serial to Ethernet device back simultaneously to the central system.
