The backpanel was a $34.00 fabrication job by Front-Panel Express. We are using Neutrik N2 series RCA jacks.
The back panel has been mortised into the cherry frame.
Special built from a severely damaged phase I saloon with a roof and backpanel from an otherwise derelict pickup
This Jag is from the Avon series of collector car decanters. The rear of the car comes off, giving you access to the contents...of a scent called "Wild Mountain"...my opinon?...it should have been called..."Pheweeee!" The good news...after several washings, it has no aroma anymore...!
While most of my collection of some 75 Jaguar XK models (120's, 140's, 150's and XKE's) are the more conventional 1/18, 1/24 and 1/43 scales, I do have about ten that don't fit into the usual 'die-cast' category. These are ones that are either made of glass, plastic, rubber or even coal!!! The ones shown here are from that group...
A note on the photos...these were taken using a translucent light table, mostly using a Nikon SB-24 to illuminate the backpanel and a variety of smaller SB-30's for detail lighting or to light the glass models from underneath the frosted acrylic. In many of the shots I used a colored gel or two for some additional 'pop' to the shot... Exposures were generally 1/4000 of a sec. at f 8.0. None have been enhanced or altered with PhotoShop except for the addition of the 'matting' effect and a few bits of blemish removal..(cat hairs on the table!!)

Drilled the holes, added the lights, soldered the whole thing together with resistors...and the coolest part: Notice the on/off switch is an old school NES button. Woo! First project with NYC Resistor! Huge thanks to Eric Skiff who walked me through all the stages.

Mijn "oude" versterker.

Somewhat dilapidated back panel from the 1949 Gottlieb pinball machine "Robin Hood." Framed and hanging in my "library" (the junky room where I keep my books).

This sign consists of a 4" thick built-up oval backpanel which was veneered in birds-eye maple. We then cut the blue shapes out of glued up maple strips then machined them into a soft, rounded shape. Dimensional letters were inlaid into the blue area. We carved the center pictorial of a farmhouse scene out of a solid piece of jelutong hardwood.

Here are two of the more unusual Jags, both XKE's. They are both filled with liquid, similar to the Snow Globes, and a variety of loose objects. The near, clear, one has a Gambling Theme and contains items such as dice, tiny playing cards, small gold coins and red, gold and silver hearts. The one in the background is amber in color and it is filled with hearts, balls and beads. Both of them have indentations in the roofs and were sold as candy dishes, etc. Buyers must have had very small candies to use them for that purpose..!!

Backpanel: fuses.
Designed by Robert Moog in 1970, the Minimoog Model D synthesizer is still regarded as the Rolls Royce equivalent for analog keyboard-based synthesizers. Specifically designed for touring musicians, the minimoog exported electronic music experiments from university labs out to the masses - and her deep farting bass-sounds (think of Kraftwerk's Autobahn), lead and space bleeps and sweeps have become HUGELY popular over the last 38 years.
There were originally 13,000 minimoogs produced between 1970 and 1981. After a brief hiatus during the digital-synth craze in the 1980s, the minimoog enjoyed a resurgence of interest among musicians since the 1990s...and yes, it's becoming harder to get a hold on one.
I obtained this Mini from a studio garage sale back in 1989 for US$ 150 (in prime condition - save the crackling external input knob). After lying dormant for 7 years now, it's time to bring life back into this 1973 model D mini. Tropical humidity heavily damaged the furnishing. It needs re-tuning of the oscillators, cleaning of the electronic board, new switches for filter modulation, and thinking about a new base panel.

This XKE is on top of one of those Laser etched cubes of acrylic. Seeing it up in the air like that reminds me of all the maintainence these cars require!

Remove the edge of the protective film to make sure both panels line up properly. Gradually tighten both ends of panel, make sure the base is on a flat surface...
My backpanel doesn't allow flashing yellow arrow operation so I briefly wired it up to run just as a protected left.

An arrangement of the glass Jaguars. The two XK-120's in front, the XKE 'drophead' roadster next with the Avon XKE in the rear. Rear right is the XKE coupe...still the most beautiful car ever built...IMHO...!!

This photo shows a few of the minor differences in these two XK 120's. Notice the height of the windscreens and the location and detail of the motor, an inline Overhead Cam 6 cylinder. You can also see difference in the details of the headlights and grill.
