Das OM-System Zuiko Auto-Macro mit einer Brennweite von 50mm und der relativ geringen Anfangsblende von 3.5 war -ausweislich der Bedienungsanleitung- das erste Makro Objektiv von Olympus, welches „Floating-Elements“ besaß. Dabei werden intern beim Fokussieren zusätzlich Linsengruppen gegeneinander bewegt. So kann das Objektiv nicht nur im Nahbereich, sondern auch bis Unendlich ohne nennenswerte Einschränkungen verwendet werden. Es besitzt fünf Linsen in vier Gruppen und ist mehrschichtvergütet.
Bis Blende 5.6 erfolgt die Einstellung derselben stufenlos und sodann in vollen Schritten.
Das Objektiv ist sehr leicht und klein und erreicht einen Abbildungsmaßstab bis 1:2. Unter Verwendung des 25er Zwischenrings wird sogar der Maßstab 1:1 erreicht.
Man erhält dieses kleine Wunderwerk für relativ kleines Geld; meins war sogar neuwertig und kam gestern an.
Da musste ich natürlich sofort los, um es zu testen. Da die Sonne schon tief am Horizont stand, waren die Möglichkeit allerdings eingeschränkt.
Daher als Kostprobe diese Gegenlichtaufnahme einer Diestel vor den Toren von Münsters Speicherstadt.

I won this lens on a marketplace for a good price and this
is a manual zoom lens from the early 80s and its one
of the few vintage manual zooms of pentax that is highly regarded.
After using it a bit my conclusion for now is: its beautiful,
all metal and glass and heavy, yes!! It produces pleasant
and bright tones, great sharpness at all apertures and great bokeh at all lengths {not at same class as my primes but almost there).
Prone to flares so for some occasions a hood is needed for others those are welcomed. My kit 18-55 will collect more
dust now. This one I think will be my main workhorse

The fruit and husk of a physalis plant f22 / ISO 200 / 1 sec - the fruit is roughly the size of a cherry tomato and in this image it is backlight by a small flashlight hidden by the POV.
This is an image from last year that I re-processed in B&W for the Capture Oakville photo contest. The final juried selections were based physical prints and 2 of my entries made it to this stage (Iridescent Leaf was my other shot).
I hardly ever make prints of my images and I highly recommend taking some of your favourite shots and getting them printed at a good size (in this case 16"x20" prints). It is a very different experience seeing them physically in print. Your local camera club or camera store can probably recommend a quality print shop to make the prints (avoid the big box in-store labs).
This shot won a honorable mention in the B&W category and both prints are on display at the gallery of a local cultural centre along with 80 other photographs from the competition.
Overall it was a great experience - I learned a lot about the printing process and it forced me to look over my work for the past year with a critical eye.
One single long exposure. No photoedition : straight out of the camera except for contrast/crop.

While the train may be dark the backlighting really accentuates the color at East Portal. A BNSF manifest is westbound at East Portal on 10.3.25
