After a wind-blown day walking on Axe Edge, what's better than stopping at the Brewery and having a pint of beer with the same name?

L'Axe majeur est une œuvre monumentale située à Cergy1, dans le département du Val-d'Oise, en France. Elle s'inscrit dans une boucle de l'Oise, au centre de la ville nouvelle de Cergy-Pontoise. L’œuvre est conçue par le sculpteur israélien Dani Karavan à partir de 1980, ses premiers éléments apparaissant au cours des années 1980.

Sa réalisation connaît une longue période de creux jusqu'au milieu des années 2000 où sont réalisées les stations du bord de l'Oise. Inachevé par rapport aux divers plans créés, l'Axe est composé de douze stations sur une longueur de 3,2 kilomètres, incluant une tour penchée, un ensemble de douze colonnes, une passerelle, une île ou encore un rayon laser qui survole le parcours. Il débute dans le quartier auquel il a donné son nom, Axe Majeur - Horloge (anciennement Saint-Christophe) et s'achève à la limite avec Neuville-sur-Oise, après avoir survolé les étangs artificiels de Cergy-Neuville.

Symbole de la ville nouvelle, il est également l'une des œuvres importantes de Dani Karavan, qui accompagne sa construction pendant plus de trente ans. Il est par ailleurs lieu de tournage de film, de plusieurs clips de rap, et accueille un défilé de mode en 2021.

A quite simple product shot with some artificial crush ice. The ice is lit from below with a flash that was geled with a half-blue gel. For the bottle several exposures with a second gridded flash were taken, where the flash was positioned from different locations. These images were blended together in photoshop using the "lighter color" blending mode. Since there was no way to recover the blue glow from the backlit ice when lighting the bottle, I had to mask it out so that there is now basically one exposure for the ice and the combined exposure for the bottle.

As the sun approaches days end over Axe Edge a thin veil of low cloud begins to build in the south west.

Suddenly the sun just seems to explode as the building moisture in the air scatters the suns low angle rays across the moorland turning everything orange with its fiery glow.

LOOK OUT! That bot’s got an axe to grind!

This fun little drone is definitely different than what I usually build. It started because I’ve been wanting to use fishing rods as bot legs … buuut they don’t come in white, so I ended up with the 16L bars instead - adding some ski poles for added traction and/or poking. The axe was a last-minute bonus!

Also, I need a better way to take pics of white models - maybe a darker background next time.
