No surprise lovers of railway architecture drool over Hellifield station. Its glazed, decorated canopies are seen to good effect in this view of the sole surviving down platform. The station, designed by Staffordshire-born architect Charles Trubshaw, opened in 1880. Now unstaffed and served by a handful of passenger trains, it is a shadow of the busy scene presented in the station's heyday. After a couple of costly refurbishments, the most recent in 2013, at least most of it now looks rather less forlorn and dilapidated.

This is a former boarding house, built in 1890. In 2012 it was severely damaged by arson (it was vacant and not being used at the time.) The owner is in the process of rebuilding it into "micro apartments."
Set on the banks of the beautiful Cooper River, Riverfront Park has been built near the historic homes once occupied by the Naval Base Admiral and officers, surrounded by graceful old oak trees and peaceful river vistas. Bordered by Noisette Creek, the park boasts a magnificent contemporary Performance Pavilion and Grand Lawn. The National Outdoor Sculpture Competition and Exhibition is installed there. Future plans include the Shipyard Memorial and Boardwalk.

An older warehouse on the corner of 7th and Island. The whole block behind it is currently a hole so to be filled by a new tower block. This building is meant to be part of the new complex I think...

I was at the mall a couple days ago and I completely forgot that I wanted to take some photos of The Promenade in the daylight. Luckily I had my camera in the car and was able to get a little bit of light play between the awnings before the sun sunk below the buildings.
