You can see the original red color of that section of the cab. Plus all the holes I had to patch from security bars.
Megan and Bryant bought some really cool prints from one of the artists in her program at Pratt. This one is my favorite.
I love how the paint shifts in colors from purple to gold and back to purple. My favorite paint job on a car at the show! Feel free to ID this vehicle. I have seen roadsters like this in movies.
As drawn by Miss Livvy. Please to notice my "boots" - I thought they were big egg feet. Also, Dale has eight fingers. I have six.
We're framing these.
We didn't think this was going to turn out very well, actually - it ended up looking a lot cool on camera.
I don't get Gourmet magazine in the mail anymore, but I do check out their website from time to time. This month, they are featuring their favorite cookie recipe from each year since the magazine's inception (link). I scrolled through the pages, and this recipe (link) caught my eye. I can tell I'm not the only one -- I've seen a few food blogs here and there saying they've tried it recently as well.
I made two small errors in judgment: First, I thought that if some pistachios were great, even more would be better. That made them very hard to slice, so I'll stick to the amount the recipe calls for next time. Also, I made my dough logs about 1.5" square, instead of the 2" called for. Ditto on the making it more difficult to slice. Despite these flaws and somewhat imperfectly-shaped cookies, they were a big hit everywhere I brought them this week, so they're going in the permanent repertoire. Delicious and festively colored for the season!
Note: Also, I rolled them in raw demerara sugar instead of the white sanding sugar that the recipe called for. I liked the effect of the brown color on the edges, thought I'm sure white would be fine too.
My fabulously fabulous wife Hollie commissioned this fabulously fabulous bike scultpure for my birthday.
It's seriously about the best thing ever.
Also, witness my fabulously fabulous and messy desk.
