Sculpt Update (IMAGES) on my 1:18 scaled Space Jockey - ALIENS 1979. Sculpted using Aves FIXIT Sculpt.
I've posted a video as well so please check that out. youtu.be/LL6moVvkzkI
I "dremeled" out a chasm to insert a separate sculpted piece of tubing that will be sculpted over to become a permanent fixture. I also carved out a portal to insert the "guard" that goes down the back of the chair, parallel to the interior tubing. Some adjustments need to be made and additional sculpting needs to be added but I'm very pleased with how it all fits.
One step closer to finishing the back of the chair!
Hope you enjoy the photos! Thanks again for all the comments and support! More updates coming!

Sculpt update on the Alien Warrior - ALIENS - 1:18 scale. Completed the head sculpt last week, castings are coming out very nice happy to say. Now it's time to sculpt the upper torso. I sculpt from top to bottom, right to left (or vise versa) so the progress you see here will be will need to be repeated for the opposite side tonight. Helps me with perspective and proportion..and with only having a few hours work time before full cure,I can only work a little at a time. #aliens #alien #warrior #xenomorph #hive #queen #sulaco #colonialmarine #sculpture #avesfixit #avesstudio
The first of two semi-static posed figures of the creature from the 1979 film, Alien. Hand sculpted, hand painted. This version depicts the beast as it would have appeared in several promotional test shots during pre-production, the air duct scene where Captain Dallas met his end as well as a deleted scene appearing within the corridor while Parker and Lambert were making their desperate escape.
Figure is approx. 3" high from highest point on head to the feet. Articulated neck, shoulders, elbows, wrists. Vacuum formed PETG dome is removable.
Original was sculpted using Aves FIXIT sculpt, a two part epoxy. Parts were cast in resin and assembled to build this version. Used Model Masters Polly Scale and Tamiya acrylics.

"The TEETH! Fix the teeth!"
I've always planned to fix the teeth but had put it off while building the rest of the figure. Realized after the last update that it was becoming more of an issue to some...and I get it believe me! So before any further updates, I chose to revise the sculpt yesterday.
Sculpt progress on the Praetorian Xenomorph (Egg Morpher) - Aliens: Defiance - 1:18 scale. A work in progress.
A little less friendly I hope? LOL! Sculpted the entire set of teeth once again along with the rim that goes above the gum line.
The Defiance Praetorian featured teeth that resembled that of the Deacon newborn from Prometheus - human teeth (very creepy) with a protruding jaw that contained the fangs. I still plan to sculpt a version that features those teeth, just not as big as the original sculpt. Variation is a beautiful thing. #alien #aliens #defiance #darkhorsecomics #praetorian #covenant #nostromo #sulaco #sculpture #aves #avesfixit #avesstudio #sculpting #customactionfigure
Sculpt update on The Queen - Aliens (86) - and the Egg Morpher - Aliens: Defiance - Dark Horse Comics. Both 1:18 scale.
The Queen
Completed the rough sculpt of the lower mandible and teeth. The lower mandible is a skeletal sculpt for the moment while I adjust and refine the teeth. After the lower teeth are complete, flesh detail will be added to the mandible.
The teeth are being sculpted on a separate pallet, so when completed can have a mold made and cast in clear resin. The teeth are individually sculpted using Aves FIXIT sculpt, a two-part epoxy from Aves Studio LLC. Once cured, I've begun refining each using dental tools and fine-grit sandpaper. Hope to have them at a full shine similar to the top set of teeth soon.
I still have to sculpt the gum line for the lower teeth and the pallet will eventually be set deeper into the lower mandible than what you see here. Many adjustments will be made after castings are made. Then additional casts will be made.
Do the top and bottom teeth line up? Close but not really - not too concerned with that since my sculpt will feature multiple head sculpts and not a jointed jaw. So perfect alignment isn't a priority here...although I will do my best to get it as close as possible before making molds.
The Egg Morpher
Began filling the detail to the back "pipes" of the beast. I've also begun the sculpt of the creature's hands which will be very similar to the Giger Alien hands but larger. The rough sculpt right now resemble Bugs Bunny gloves and not that of the nightmarish xenomorph but no worries, that will all change....just how I work.
Hope you enjoyed the updates!!! Trying to get an update knocked out each week. If not, every other week for sure with updates in between.
Questions are welcome! Thanks again!

Sculpt update on H.R. Giger's Space Jockey - 1:18 scale, ALIEN (1979).
Sculpt using Aves FIXIT Sculpt - a two-part epoxy. Find out more about this material at Aves Clay
In my last update, I spoke of how I needed to strip away a portion of my sculpt to make more room in the back of the Space Jockey for additional detail. I think my last video update showed the area I "dremeled" away.
For this update, I have successfully sculpted the portions that were previously removed, adding more detail than before and this time bringing the sculpt further out, making room for the new detail that has also begun to take residence in the back of the sculpture. Two tubes have been added as well as a build-out between the two where the next set up tubes will go. This offset is accurate to the production photos I have studied from the set.
Next step is to sculpt the backpack behind the head, neck and shoulders. An enormous amount of biomechanical detail in this area alone so it should be fun! Just waiting on my latest FIXIT order from Aves Studio which should be here sometime this week.
Sorry for the absence of updates over the past month. Life turned the volume up a bit and I had to step away from the workbench to turn it back down. Nothing serious, which I'm thankful for. Speaking of being thankful, I hope all my American friends had a great Thanksgiving!
Thanks for all the continued interest! Hoping you all are staying safe and healthy. More updates to come! ❤

Sculpt update on the Nostromo Sleep Chamber _Parker and Brett_1:18 scale. ALIEN 79.
Sculpt progress on the sleeping versions of Brett and Parker - static pieces, no articulation.
As you can see in the progress images, much of the initial cast pieces were used as framework only. Parker's body, which is basically a full sculpt, needed to be proportionately larger than the rest of the crew. Unlike the rest of the crew sculpts, I'm not going to allow much separation of the arms from the body for these two. Will make it easier to replicate later.
I have some adjustments to Parker's head sculpt and Bretts neck and shoulders...adjustments are made as it progresses. Soon I will have the entire sleeping crew complete.
Questions, comments welcome :) Hope you enjoyed the update!! More to come! Stay safe and take care!!

Figure sculpt update for 3/18/22 -
Migraines took me out periodically over the the past couple weeks...those of you that suffer them know what I'm talking about. Unfortunate reason for the delay but feeling much better now
Update of Jedi Dass Jennir from the Dark Horse Comics series Dark Times (Out of the Wilderness arc). I finished sculpting the hair, arms, chest and back. Next comes the details to the belt and his holster. I have to sculpt it in such a way where articulation won't be hindered when positioning him on his steed. I'd rather the figure not be built on a parts swapping gimmick but worse case scenario, I sculpt a second lower body of his legs in a static sitting position and forget about it. It's more work but it's a personal project so why not? We'll see.
Next up is progress made on the bounty hunter Falco Sang from the same series. I finished sculpting his upper body along with detailing to the front and back of his chest harness/gun holster. The actual holsters themselves are being sculpted separately and will be attached in such a way as not to impede on the arm articulation. I have a couple ideas on how to accomplish that. Also working on custom weapons seen in the comic using some Marauder GR weapons I purchased a few years back along with some various Star Wars themed weapondry.
Finally sculpt progress made on the Bounty Hunter of Ord Mantell, Skorr. This character comes from the classic Marvel comics strip of the same title. Body sculpt build is complete, and I’ve started sculpting the boots which will be shown in a future update. Starting from the bottom, up and will add some additional articulation as I go forward. The frame was originally a Boss Fight Studio Spartan and has worked very well for this build so far.
That’s it for now! As of this update, I was able to get some additional sculpt work completed so I’m shooting those updates now and will have that up soon. Just didn’t want too much time to go by without an update.
Hope you enjoy and thanks again for your continued interest and support for my work. ❤

Sculpt update to the Praetorian Xenomorph (egg morpher) - Alien: Defiance - 1:18 scale work in progress.
Sculpt using Aves FIXIT from Aves Studio LLC
Forgive the skinny arms and clay spots holding everything together LOL! Using some wax clay to bring in all the parts to show how the figure is coming along. The arm frames are prior castings of the 79 Alien along with acrylic rods to make the appendages longer - the length of the creature's limbs are to be exaggerated just bit. In my opinion the elongated limbs brings with it that "creep" factor. The next step will be to sculpt the arms and begin work on the tail...which will conatin a good amount of detail.

Sculpt update on the 1:18 scale Space Jockey - ALIEN 79.
Completed one of the hands to the fossilized pilot. It's excruciated grip on the control stick as its life violently ended. I also worked a bit on the back end of the pilot. Will sculpt the remaining detail of the control stick before flipping and sculpting the same on the other side. Using Aves FIXIT Sculpt by Aves Clay
One of the mistakes I've seen sculptors do when recreating this piece is the process of making both sides are identical. News flash - They are nowhere near identical. It can get a little confusing at times as well when pouring through pages of images from artists verses the original Giger production prop. Some of which wasn't photographed well on set so you have to find other sources to give you an idea for reference. It can be a challenge but just as fun

Sculpt progress of the Nostromo Crew/Sleep Chamber - ALIEN79 - 1:18 scale. Work in progress.
With only small details needed to complete the sleeping Kane figure, I have continued the sculpt work on Ash. I have finished building the figure out from head to foot. I need to adjust the position of the figure inside the chamber before I fill in the knees. I have formed the lower arms and hands using Aves FIXIT which I will define and detail out later today.
The third crew member will be Lambert. I have a cast of Lambert's upper torso from her standard crew figure(created earlier) which I will dremel down and sculpt her body.
Hope you enjoyed the update! More to come!

Update on the Space Jockey sculpt - 1:18 scale, ALIEN 79.
Images were taken with my smartphone so apologies for the poorer quality.
So I have shortened the body of the sculpt to its correct proportions. Time to mend both pieces back together. To do this I will use a mix of styrene and epoxy. Styrene, to weld the sides into place and the epoxy to fill in and patch up the gaps of the sculpt itself. The sides of the piece will be covered with epoxy as well but that will come later in the sculpt.
Images show the pieces when they were separate and the final mend. All is right with the world.
Now to sculpt the area again, including slightly smaller hands and a build on the forward section. I also need to finish the details to the back which were put on hold while I got this looming obstacle out of the way.
More to come! Thanks for the continued interest!

Sculpt progress on the Newborn - Alien: Resurrection - 1:18 scale. Sculpt using Aves FIXIT Sculpt from Aves Studio LLC.
Looks kind like a bust doesn't it...not a bad idea. Still, it's only the buildup of the upper torso. I will be sculpting detail once a needled it down a bit more. Then will come the lower abdomen, arms. legs etc.
The upper torso and head will be one piece. Just don't have the tech available to create an articulated neck that works with this sculpt. If anything it would have been a rubber sheath that would drape over and articulated frame.
Different expressions are also in the works. Sculpting tails for the other xenos at this time and a tongue for this beast.
