The second of two semi-static posed figures is complete. This version depicts the creature as it appears in the deleted "crab-walker" scene from the 1979 film as Lambert and Parker make a desperate attempt to escape the Nostromo. This deleted scene however was thought comical by many, not well executed on film and revealed too much of the creature...reducing it to nothing more than a man in a rubber suit...something Ridley Scott was avoiding by using smoke and shadow.

Hand sculpted, hand painted. 1:18 scale. I borrowed resin cast parts from the original Alien figure I created a year earlier, made modifications to the torso, neck, shoulders

and legs.

When crouched or "crab walking", the figure is approx. 3" high from highest point on head to the feet. When standing, the figure is approx. 5.25" high, still not fully erect as the leg and hip joints limit the full motion (again, this was originally meant to be a static posed figure). Fortunately I was able to add several articulation points to the figure: Ball jointed neck, shoulders, elbows, wrists, hips, knees and ankles. Vacuum formed PETG dome is removable. The tail is static but is attached using a revoltech joint and can be switched out with a longer tail option.

Original was sculpted using Aves FIXIT sculpt, a two part epoxy. Parts were cast in resin and assembled to build this version. Used Model Masters Polly Scale and Tamiya acrylics.

Sculpting week off to a great start! Lambert in flight vest - 1:18 scale, ALIEN 79. For the exception of the belt and some minor details, this sculpt is complete. Sculpted the vest last night using Aves FIXIT sculpt. Variants include Lamber in Nostromo T and Lambert in Nostromo Jacket (as seen near the end of the film). Working on some minor touch-ups to the beast tonight as well as Dallas and Kane upper box sculpts. #alien #lambert #nostromocrew #sith_fire30 #avesfixit

Nostromo build update..."Mother" Security Portal - ALIEN 79 - 1:18 scale. "Security Portal" - it's the doorway section with the supposed scan that lights up allowing access to the "Mother's Womb" as Ridley Scott likes to call it. The first section of the corridor that leads to the Nostromo's master computer - a work in progress. I realized it's a tad taller than it should be...not much of a concern. Had to compensate for making the entrance from the bridge a tad too large. Still works smile emoticon

SO MUCH DETAIL into what I thought would be a simple panel wall. The more I studied the photos however, the more I realized just how much attention was given to every corner of these stage designs. Brilliant and insane.

One day soon I will master LEDs and how to wire them appropriately. Knowing that, I decided to create the doorway using clear acrylic as the frame. This is so I can add LED panels to the exterior later and recreate the lighting effect. Currently, the light is emanating from a handheld LED light...but even this offers an awesome effect. Next step is to sculpt the padding to the interior of the doorway, add a control panel then begin to build out into the small security corridor. ‪#‎nostromo‬ ‪#‎alien‬ ‪#‎mother‬ ‪#‎MUTHUR‬ ‪#‎mastercomputer‬ ‪#‎weyland‬ ‪#‎dallas‬ ‪#‎tomskerritt‬

Sculpt update on Kane's Death Shroud - ALIEN 79 - 1:18 scale. Began sculpting detail over the frame I created early last week. The top portion of the shroud will be separate, attached by magnets. Created a thin shell/frame for this piece to be sculpted over later. The head sculpt of Kane will easily be seen through the shroud, along with a variant that is similar to the sculpt for the prop miniature. More sculpt work needed and tons of detail to be added. #alien #nostromo #kane #deathshroud #chestburster #sculpture #avesfixit #deletedscene

Began filling the detail to the back "pipes" of the beast. I've also begun the sculpt of the creature's hands which will be very similar to the Giger Alien hands but larger. The rough sculpt right now resemble Bugs Bunny gloves and not that of the nightmarish xenomorph but no worries, that will all change....just how I work.

Hope you enjoyed the updates!!! Trying to get an update knocked out each week. If not, every other week for sure with updates in between.

Questions are welcome! Thanks again!

Sculpt progress on the Praetorian Alien (Egg Morpher) from the Dark Horse comic series Aliens: Defiance. 1:18 scale.

Completed the sculpt work on the upper and lower arms. I am using Aves FIXIT sculpt as my sculpt material, a two-part epoxy.

The arms are elongated per the design and description by the original artist. Other than the head, the body of the Praetorian borrows much of the original Giger design of the beast for the 79 film, but with minior changes to the arms and legs. The next step in the build will be the hands and upper legs.

I'm right in the middle of this and two other projects I'm trying to get some progress on including the Alien Newborn (Resurrection) and the Alien Queen (Aliens). I may though begin a couple xeno sculpts that are concept driven...artists concepts never brought to film or publication. I have a couple ideas so far. Hope to have something to show soon.

Sculpt update on The Queen - Aliens (86) - and the Egg Morpher - Aliens: Defiance - Dark Horse Comics. Both 1:18 scale.

The Queen

Completed the rough sculpt of the lower mandible and teeth. The lower mandible is a skeletal sculpt for the moment while I adjust and refine the teeth. After the lower teeth are complete, flesh detail will be added to the mandible.

The teeth are being sculpted on a separate pallet, so when completed can have a mold made and cast in clear resin. The teeth are individually sculpted using Aves FIXIT sculpt, a two-part epoxy from Aves Studio LLC. Once cured, I've begun refining each using dental tools and fine-grit sandpaper. Hope to have them at a full shine similar to the top set of teeth soon.

I still have to sculpt the gum line for the lower teeth and the pallet will eventually be set deeper into the lower mandible than what you see here. Many adjustments will be made after castings are made. Then additional casts will be made.

Do the top and bottom teeth line up? Close but not really - not too concerned with that since my sculpt will feature multiple head sculpts and not a jointed jaw. So perfect alignment isn't a priority here...although I will do my best to get it as close as possible before making molds.

The Egg Morpher

Began filling the detail to the back "pipes" of the beast. I've also begun the sculpt of the creature's hands which will be very similar to the Giger Alien hands but larger. The rough sculpt right now resemble Bugs Bunny gloves and not that of the nightmarish xenomorph but no worries, that will all change....just how I work.

Hope you enjoyed the updates!!! Trying to get an update knocked out each week. If not, every other week for sure with updates in between.

Sculpt update on H.R. Giger's Space Jockey - 1:18 scale, ALIEN (1979).

Sculpt using Aves FIXIT Sculpt - a two-part epoxy. Find out more about this material at Aves Clay

In my last update, I spoke of how I needed to strip away a portion of my sculpt to make more room in the back of the Space Jockey for additional detail. I think my last video update showed the area I "dremeled" away.

For this update, I have successfully sculpted the portions that were previously removed, adding more detail than before and this time bringing the sculpt further out, making room for the new detail that has also begun to take residence in the back of the sculpture. Two tubes have been added as well as a build-out between the two where the next set up tubes will go. This offset is accurate to the production photos I have studied from the set.

Next step is to sculpt the backpack behind the head, neck and shoulders. An enormous amount of biomechanical detail in this area alone so it should be fun! Just waiting on my latest FIXIT order from Aves Studio which should be here sometime this week.

Sorry for the absence of updates over the past month. Life turned the volume up a bit and I had to step away from the workbench to turn it back down. Nothing serious, which I'm thankful for. Speaking of being thankful, I hope all my American friends had a great Thanksgiving!

Thanks for all the continued interest! Hoping you all are staying safe and healthy. More updates to come! ❤

Sculpt Update (IMAGES) on my 1:18 scaled Space Jockey - ALIENS 1979. Sculpted using Aves FIXIT Sculpt.

I've posted a video as well so please check that out. youtu.be/LL6moVvkzkI

I "dremeled" out a chasm to insert a separate sculpted piece of tubing that will be sculpted over to become a permanent fixture. I also carved out a portal to insert the "guard" that goes down the back of the chair, parallel to the interior tubing. Some adjustments need to be made and additional sculpting needs to be added but I'm very pleased with how it all fits.

One step closer to finishing the back of the chair!

Hope you enjoy the photos! Thanks again for all the comments and support! More updates coming!

Sculpted hips and began working the upper arms.

Realized I need to thin out the lower back a bit and complete some detail just behind the shoulders before I can replicate (mold/cast) and head on to the next stage. Loving the elongated arms of this beast....

At this point with the project, I have pretty much caught up to the point where I left off with the Covenant Xenomorph, Neomorph and Defiance Praetorian - arms and legs. So expect a variety of updates, not JUST the Newborn from this point forward.

More updates to come! Perhaps some Star Wars updates soon? Bringing some back to the workbench. #alien #alienresurrection #newborn #ripley8 #studioadi #sculpture #avesfixit #avesstudio studioADI
