Ovoid's in my kitchen....eggs are the perfect ovoid (in my mind), but I have photographed them a lot. Shot for Flickr Monthly Scavenger Hunt: Ovoid

The avocado pit/seed is the subject of this photo. Thanks for giving us the seed theme for Macro Mondays - tirned into something delicious!

Still there, still going. Only the white signboard is gone.

Must be the guy from Chipotle that pits avacados for the guacamole...

My wife cooks some amazing dishes and from time to time she makes me shoot them for her IG page. This is one of those times

2nd attempt at dark food photography. This time i used flash rather than natural light. Although that reflection on the bottom left is annoying.

Part of my dinner from tonight! = ) Yum....

Yup. All of it. Three days of patio hopping and eating (and drinking) my way through Vancity... mmmm mmmmm!

It does feel good to finally be home now. Travels are all done for a while, and I'm starting my new job on Friday. So much for the funemployment :(

A fruit vendor changes the arrangement of her produce at a local stall on Emilio Aguinaldo Hwy, a primary thoroughfare leading to the tourist hotspot of Tagaytay. Visible in this photo are avocados, guyabano (soursop), different types of mangos, papaya, oranges, and a few apples. Apples are not native to the Philippines, and the ones visible here were most likely imported, hence the soft padding around them.

Well the girls would turn the color of the avacado

These two tomato plants sprouted unexpectedly almost a month ago. The previous inhabitants of this planter were avocados which never make it through the winter. I was very surprised to see these show up, and at this rate, I'll have tomatoes by April. I'm guessing that I tried planting some Roma tomato seeds last spring but they never took....until now, in the middle of the winter.

My sister made this homemade pizza, was so yummy! There is fresh avacado, roma tomatoes, grilled ham, green peppers, cheese and all kinds of spieces on it...tasted superb.

INFORMATION ON PIZZA:

Pizza (pronounced /ˈpiːtsə/), in Italian: ['pit.tsa]) is an oven-baked, flat, generally round bread that is usually covered with tomatoes or a tomato-based sauce and often mozzarella cheese, with other toppings added according to region, culture or personal preference.

Originating as a part of Italian cuisine, the dish has become popular in many different parts of the world. A shop or restaurant where pizzas are made and sold is called a “pizzeria”. The phrase “pizza parlor” is also used in the United States. The term pizza pie is dialectal, and pie is used for simplicity in some contexts, such as among pizzeria staff.

The bread base of the pizza (called the “crust” in the United States and Canada) may vary widely according to style: thin as in hand-tossed pizza or Roman pizza, thick as in pan pizza, or very thick as in Chicago-style pizza. It is traditionally plain, but may also be seasoned with butter, garlic, or herbs, or stuffed with cheese.

In restaurants, pizza can be baked in a gas oven with stone bricks above the heat source, an electric deck oven, a conveyor belt oven or, in the case of more expensive restaurants, a wood- or coal-fired brick oven. On deck ovens, the pizza can be slid into the oven on a long paddle called a peel and baked directly on the hot bricks or baked on a screen (a round metal grate, typically aluminum). When making pizza at home, it can be baked on a pizza stone in a regular oven to imitate the effect of a brick oven. Another option is grilled pizza, in which the crust is baked directly on a barbecue grill. Greek pizza, like Chicago-style pizza, is baked in a pan rather than directly on the bricks of the pizza oven.

In home-made pizza, there are many variations on the bread used for crust. In some countries, creations such as french bread pizza, pita pizza, bagel pizza, matzo pizza, and tortilla pizza are popular.

I've had success growing avacado plants from the seeds, but they always die off when winter approaches. A month ago there was a random plant growing in the planter unexpectedly. It's possibly a couple of tomato plants, they have that minty smell, but it could also just be weeds.... Time will tell.
