The Jaguar E-Type (UK) or XK-E (US) is a British automobile, manufactured by Jaguar between 1961 and 1975. Its combination of good looks, high performance, and competitive pricing established the marque as an icon of 1960s motoring. A great success for Jaguar, more than 70,000 E-Types were sold during its lifespan.
Open headlights without glass covers, a wrap-around rear bumper, re-positioned and larger front indicators and tail lights below the bumpers, better cooling aided by an enlarged "mouth" and twin electric fans, and uprated brakes are hallmarks of Series 2 cars. De-tuned in US with twin strombergs and larger valve clearances, but still with triple SUs in the UK and the much tighter valve clearances, the engine is easily identified visually by the change from smooth polished cam covers to a more industrial "ribbed" appearance. Late Series 1½ cars also had ribbed cam covers. The interior and dashboard were also redesigned, with rocker switches that met US health and safety regulations being substituted for toggle switches. The dashboard switches also lost their symmetrical layout. New seats were fitted, which purists claim lacked the style of the originals but were certainly more comfortable. Air conditioning and power steering were available as factory options.
Production according to Graham is 13,490 of all types.

Yep, British Leyland actually did this, they put a chrome conk on an Allegro and decked it out with picnic tables, leather seats, wood veneer and even its own Champagne glasses!
This would be a charming gesture, if it weren't for the fact that this isn't a large limousine or saloon car, but instead a four door family shopping car! The irony is also that the Allegro had notoriously small rear-legroom, which is a bit of a major design flaw for a car that's built for the purpose of it being chauffeur driven!
Oops!
Spotted this awesome 458 Italia parked at Providence in Huntsville. This 458 is probably the most elusive in the area.

Ferrari 250 GTO No.3527 5-1962 Köchert - Laidlaw
----
[Quelle: Ennstal-Classic]

This was real fun to design and build. The final assembly is extremely satisfying, I took it apart a couple of times just to get that feeling again.
I did a lot of research on how real life super cars are constructed (which is quite different from regular cars). Working at an assembly plant for heavy duty trucks does help too.
Anyway, I’m happy with the result, my car building skills seem to have improved a lot since my last one.
What makes this car stands out is that fact that its chassis was not constructed around a typical technique frame, like the official sets have. Instead I tried to replicate the chassis components of a real supercar. It was quite challenging to get some sturdiness this way and although there’s still some room for improvement I think I managed to get a pretty rigid chassis eventually.
It seemed a shame to cover up all those carefully designed chassis components so I decided to have the bodywork cut in half lengthwise.
(But I have some pictures of a complete bodywork variant as well in the gallery, for the interested.)
I did not base the design on any real life supercar in particular. Getting fluent lines and shapes on a car this scale with lego is hard enough as it is.
During the design proces I sacrificed details for a more aesthetical shape, less is more so to say.
Since it is modular I might try some different bodywork, using the same chassis, next.
In the meantime, feel free to support it on LEGO Ideas.
Or see a progress report at Eurobricks.

The BMW New Class (German: Neue Klasse) was a line of compact sedans and coupes produced by German automaker BMW between 1962 and 1977. The New Class ensured BMW's solvency after the company's financial crises of the 1950s and established the identity of BMW automobiles as sports sedans. The term New Classreferred to the 1.5–2–liter class of automobiles from which BMW had been absent since World War II.
The New Class began in 1962 with the 1500, a new automobile with a new engine. The 1500, and all subsequent New Class cars, had a unit body, fully independent suspension with MacPherson struts in front and semi-trailing arms at the rear, front disc brakes, and a front-mounted four-cylinder M10 engine.
Initially a series of four-door sedans, the New Class line was broadened to include the 2000C and 2000CS two-door coupes at the high end in 1965 and the 1600-2 two-door economy sedan at the low end in 1966. The 1600-2, later renamed the 1602, was itself expanded into the 02 Series 1600 and 2002. Using the engine and suspension of the original four-door design in a smaller and lighter two-door unit body, the 02 series, especially the 2002, caught auto enthusiasts' attention and established BMW as an international brand.
Replacement of the New Class line of cars began with the upscale 2000C and 2000CS coupes, which were replaced by the six-cylinder BMW E9 starting with the 2800CS in 1969. The New Class four-door sedans were replaced by the larger BMW 5 Series in 1972. The 02 Series was replaced by the BMW 3 Series in 1975, except for the economy 1502 model which continued until 1977.
