Wahl-automat

(Graz)

Automatic Exposure meter with foot for ALPA cameras. Made by Bertram-BEWI around 1958, Identical to the Bewi AutomatC meter. Swiveling dial plate. You press the button and the dial plate returns in a position that indicates the appropriate shutter speed / aperture combinations

The Automat 4 was made between 1951-1954 and according to this list(www.schneideroptics.com/info/age_of_lenses/) the lens was made around 1953. So that must be the year of birth for my camera. The serial no. agrees: 12964xx.

I bought this one for $53. It had not been used for a long time and was grubby, but working. I've cleaned it as much as it has been possible, but it could use new leatherette.

This short video describes the problem I'm having with my new Zenit Automat

edit: some fidgeting and new batteries miraculously fixed the problem.

Rolleiflex Automat. Tri-X, Printed on Ilford FB Classic, scanned on HP Photosmart 4599.

Edward Hopper, American

b. 1882, Nyack, NY; d. 1967, New York, NY

The painting portrays a lone woman staring into a cup of coffee in an Automat at night. The reflection of identical rows of light fixtures stretches out through the night-blackened window.

Hopper's wife, Jo, served as the model for the woman. However, Hopper altered her face to make her younger (Jo was 44 in 1927). He also altered her figure; Jo was a curvy, full-figured woman, while one critic has described the woman in the painting as "'boyish' (that is, flat-chested)".

As is often the case in Hopper's paintings, both the woman's circumstances and her mood are ambiguous. She is well-dressed and is wearing makeup, which could indicate either that she is on her way to or from work at a job where personal appearance is important, or that she is on her way to or from a social occasion.

She has removed only one glove, which may indicate either that she is distracted, that she is in a hurry and can stop only for a moment, or simply that she has just come in from outside, and has not yet warmed up. But the latter possibility seems unlikely, for there is a small empty plate on the table, in front of her cup and saucer, suggesting that she may have eaten a snack and been sitting at this spot for some time.

This is my Rolleiflex Automat 6 x 6 Model 2 K4B.

Serial number 1.087.116

Manufacturated at 1945 - 1949.

Early version without flash sinc.

This camera arribe at november 2009 from Berlin, have more that 60 years and wasn't use for more than 20 years, i only clean a little put a films and works perfectly until now !!

It´s wonderfull !!

Only say that this camera don't work for action pictures, you need to think the photo !!

First i use the "sunny16" to take pictures, now i buy a Leningrad4 selenium meter to know the exposure.

It's a great camera.

In use.

It is quite easy to use camera.

With a photometer or sunny16 rule you choose the shutter speed and aperture.

To focus you have a magnifying glass that lets you focus accurately and choose the frame.

It is whether to do it all with time.

Very good for architecture and landscape.

For people ..... better approaches and you calculate the exposure first and then place them, especially if they are children;-)

Is my firts picture in Flickr, because i use the film now for it !!!
