Couldn't resist another Transit.
Feels wrong driving a Transit with an automatic gearbox. Good van though, just missing a few bits of trim.
Unexpectedly, the sprinklers came on. Kobe & Enzo high tailed it, but these two just couldn't get enough.

Before I soldered up the battery well, I wanted to make sure my splicing didn't fail during reassembly. I stuck the bare end of the splice into the bottom of the well, placed a 357 battery in it, pushed down to make contact, and the meter jumped to life. This test should have been done at the start of all this too, to make sure that there weren't any other hidden problems.

Building the frames for Hugin
Once I have reviewed all frames and added the build rules to my Makefule, I add this rule:
AonachDubh.pto: aonach_dubh-f1.tiff aonach_dubh-f2.tiff aonach_dubh-f3.tiff aonach_dubh-f4.tiff aonach_dubh-f5.tiff aonach_dubh-f6.tiff
echo "create AonachDubh.pto with Hugin"
In the absence AonachDubh.pto, this will work as a dummy target, causing make to generate the TIFF versions of all frames. Once I have created the panorama file AonachDubh.pto with Hugin, an as long as all frames are present, this rule will have no effect.
Automatic alginment
Adding the frame files to a new panorama in Hugin using its Assistant interface will make it assign the control points and attempt to align the images in one go. With a good enough set of frames, such alignment will normally run without problems, but with this odd set I've got the first result was a bit disappointing.
The mess shown here is caused by a combination of factors, including the lack of overlap between some frames, bogus control points found in the farmes that did not overlap, too few control points between well-overlapping frames, too many control points concentrated in very small areas, and perhaps other problems I am not aware of. The solution in this case was to delete the automatically assigned control points and place them manually, aiming for the best spread.
But before we do that, let's take a look at a few bad cases of control point positioning.

The Portugieser originated in the 1930s; it is one of the older model line at IWC. The story is that the watch came about from a request from two Portuguese merchants for a wristwatch with the precision of a pocket watch.

Put on by the Vaudevillian, the Two-Bit Variety Spectacle was performed at Home Grown Hamilton and is going to be an on going event the last wednesday of every month.
notice: this was before the carnival ships got together in the Bahamas.
those yellow vehicles right below the sunshine are former school buses used to transfer the drivers of the cars when they are loading up a RO-RO. I believe they are former South Carolina public schools 1980's mini Bluebird Internationals, that being said only going to put the photo in a neutral bus group.
So, its been awhile since the last upload. ive been self quarantining in my house for the past five weeks now. i took a six week leave of absence from work. dont worry, i am not sick. i am doing this because my work is on the front line but my family has either medical conditions that can be fatal if they catch the virus, or i have family members who are in the age group that are automatically at risk. so yeah, family before work. luckily, work was understanding about this situation and gave me six weeks off instead of the normal two weeks off for those who wanted to self quarantine but were not sick. anyways, The Carnival Sunshine was laid-up in charleston as soon has cruise ships were not allowed to sail with passengers. it first came into port as normal because of a cancelled cruise. it dropped off its passengers at the cruise terminal then spent about a week being docked at the cruise terminal. after that it moved to the columbus street port terminal, as seen here in this photo. the columbus street port terminal is used for Ro-Ro ships that transfer BMWs of all current models, Mercedes-Benz vans, and volvo cars. all made proudly in South Carolina and ironically shipped to Europe. also proudly to be a ready to work state so that means these factories are nonunion. anyways, the carnival sunshine would remain docked at the Columbus street terminal for entire month of April, only to leave to go dump grey water off the coast. now the sunshine is with 17 other carnival ships in the bahamas, transferring people to seven ships so that they can be transfered back to their homes for the time being. the most amazing thing about this meet up is, all three carnival ships who are currently and past served charleston are together. that's right Fantasy, Ecstasy and the Sunshine are part of the meet up. Fantasy and Ecstasy are actually next to each other right now if you view on the tracker. Did I mention that this Year is the Fantasy's 30th anniversary with Carnival. i wonder if they are doing a celebration party too. Y'all please stay safe. Wear your masks properly (OVER YOU NOSE AND MOUTH!!) and practice social distancing. let's hope this will end soon!! another photo will be uploaded too.

Showing the operation of the focusing system. The plunger fell out while I was doing the disassembly, and I didn't pay it much thought at the moment. Not until I reinstalled it did it strike me what it was for.

My friend Eric took this picture near a grammer school in El Cerrito. He says "I've been musing that if I had the time, I'd like to use some graphic program to make little placard signs to print onto clear Avery mailing labels that say "Another Stick Man for Obama". Then I'd stick them on walk-signal stick men like the one in this photo."
