About Utila
Utila is the smallest of the Honduras' Bay Islands, after Roatán and Guanaja, in a region that marks the south end of the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef System, the second-largest in the world.
The eastern end of the island is capped by a thin veneer of basaltic volcanic rocks, erupted from several pyroclastic cones including 74 m (243 ft) Pumpkin Hill which forms the highest point on the island. It has been documented in history since Columbus' fourth voyage, and currently enjoys growing tourism with emphasis on recreational diving.
Utila is a small island with a colourful history. It was first colonised by the Spanish and then by the British. It was also a haven for pirates and even today Scuba divers look for the lost treasure of Captain Morgan (from his raid of Panama).
What with all the recent controversy over the use/misuse of the Australian flag, this is a somewhat topical image, although that certainly wasn't in my mind as I took the shot...
Seen at the Australia vs New Zealand One Day Cricket International at Sydney, Sunday 21st January 2007. I just love the old Members' Pavilion (built 1886) on the other side of the ground, a remnant of the gentle age of the sport...
I walked to Hawthorne Park this morning looking for more sports action and was surprised to find teams of women playing AFL. I wanted action shots that inlcuded the ball which was the same notion I had yesterday when shooting the soccer at the park in Bulimba.

they have fun today. Funny kids!
Lil' Gin is still looking for a sweet home. He gains some weight and totally gets more confidence. He is a different boy now. Good for him! Every time when I think about his change during this month just makes me wonder how his former family treated him? He is much happier, acting like an one year old should be. and he jumps like a JRT! it's an amazing experience.
We switched sides with the troops and the table. Aussies had a pregame barrage, a FO, and a MMG team.
Aussie Rules Football - Essendon v Carlton. We were in an Essendon section, so naturally we became quick fans.
After trailing most of the game, Essendon surged in the last quarter to win 18.10.118 to 16.12.108.
Aussie Rules is fast paced, and great fun. I'm hooked.

from the MMG and the mortar section. I used the Japanese Island defense stats which gave the Japs a 4 tube mortar section with 2 crew for each launcher. I immediately rolled snake eyes to put one launcher out of action. 3 launchers are still plenty though.
