This critter was brought in by a family of a child who was stung. He was very symptomatic and recieved a new antivenom that improved his symptoms immediately. I brought him home for a photoshoot and released him. It wasn't his fault that he found himself on the wrong end of a kid's foot.

...this Black Garden Ant (Lasius niger) appeared and attacked the loiterer with her jaws and formic acid sprayed from her rump. I apologise for the quality of the photo: it all happened quite suddenly and both were moving pretty fast.
