Atomic Testing Museum documents the work conducted at the Nevada Test Site and its impact on the nation. This interactive museum houses artifacts on loan from personal collections, the Smithsonian Institution, Lawrence Livermore Laboratory and pieces of the Berlin wall and World Trade Centers.

These pictures were taken quite a while back when I went to Hiroshima for a short vacation. Just wondering, how often do you go on a vacation?

Parting with a few of my Joes....

Not an actual atomic fireball, but the candy, "atomic fireball." I broke open an atomic fireball, stuck it in the sputter-coater then put it in the SEM. Got some neat pictures, but the sugar didn't like the heat of the electron beam and if I focused on one spot too long the sugar would start to cook, expanding and filling the lab with a tasty cinnamon smell. Probably wasn't too good for the scope... You can see that some of the crystals are "splitting." Those are the ones that overheated a little.

Don't forget to set the time on your cameras.

A history book for Mongolian High school students. The book is kept in Atomic Bomb Dome Museum, Hiroshima, Japan...

Great stuff in Great Place... I really surprised when I saw this book in one of the most famous sightseeing museum in Japan...

History will be kept by the future...

Atomic Films out of Chattanooga hired me to help out on a video for UT here in Knoxville. They brought up a grip truck and a RED. The shoot was quick and easy. Just a little B-roll of Ayers Hall, then we shot an interview in Neyland Stadium. Just a little while after we got started they went ahead and booked me for a shoot at the YMCA in Chattanooga. That was also an interesting day. I look forward to working with Atomic Films in the future.

Is the first album by Atomic Rooster (formed from the ashes of the crazy world of Arthur Brown )titled Atomic Rooster or Atomic Roooster I wonder ?

Added my mark to the mag shelf.

The band was born in Bologna in 2012 as an idea of Daniele Lambertini, Simone Sangiorgi and Mattia Emiliani, that with other musicians, Francesco Vogli and Alessio Sandri, will form Atomic Blast. Shortly after Alessio leaves the band for personal reasons, and is replaced by Tobia Caradonna. In September 2012 the band finally finds a stable and tight line-up: Francesco on vocals, Daniele and Simone on guitars, Mattia on bass and Tobia on drums. The band starts writing their own material and performing at various concerts, until they feel the necessity to record their first EP, "Noise of Revolution" in January 2013, under Spider Rock Promotion. Tobia's groove and technical approach to drumming completes and defines the style of Atomic Blast: Thrash/Groove with very personal Funky influences. Currently the band is writing new song for the LP.

"Atomic-Field"

(Nagasaki) "Atomic-Field" was the ironic name given [to] the U.S. Marine airstrip in Nagasaki. At the time no one knew how much radiation was in the area, nor what kind of hidden death lurked there. Hundreds of apparently healthy Japanese people died mysteriously months after the bombing, and strange ailments afflict survivors today, both Japanese and Americans veterans who served in and around Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

------------------

In September 1945, Joe O'Donnell, a 23-year-old Marine Corps photographer, was given orders to document the aftermath of U.S. Bombing raids of Japanese Cities. This included Sasebo, one of the more than sixty Japanese cities that were firebombed, and Hiroshima and Nagasaki, the two cities destroyed by atomic blasts.

These are some of the photos that he took during his time in Japan. They were published in Japan 1945: A U.S. Marine's Photographs from Ground Zero by Joe O'Donnell. These photographs are on loan from his widow, Kimiko Sakai.
