Unedited shot of people at a Demonstration against Nuclear Energy yesterday on the Dam square in Amsterdam. Taken with my Sony HX1.
Yesterday there was a Demonstration on the Dam square against the use of nuclear energy, I happened to bike by, so I shot some pictures. While I was there, a Flickr friend and fan of my wicked reflections spotted me and came to ask me 'Are you AmsterSam?'...why, yes, I am, haha. I guess I need to get a bigger camera to hide my face behind, if people still recognize me in the street, lol. Now I'm famous, when will I be rich? Please donate generously to the 'AmsterSam World Domination Fund', thank you :-D
Have a nice Sunday, take it easy :)
I've made a movie of the Demonstration too, check it out on my YouTube channel, thanks :)

The Atomic Bomb Dome, also known as the Hiroshima Peace Memorial or Genbaku Dome, at Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park in Hiroshima, Japan.
Please attribute to Gage Skidmore if used elsewhere.
The end of the Second World War and the use of Atomic bombs to end the war with Japan left many people perplexed about the emeging, 'Atomic Age'. The Atomic coffee maker was clearly intended to capture the brighter more optimistic potential of 'atomic' power. Despite this optimism early Atomic coffee maker labels clearly form the outline of the sinister Mushroom Cloud. In this way the machines themselves encapsulated the two faces of the Atomic Janus.
"Atomic Cafe" is a documentary film concerning the atomic age as seen through the eyes of Americans living at the time. The absurdity of Burt the Turtle who was the figurehead the "Duck and Cover" campaign is contrasted against US Army training and Nuclear test films. The result is a chilling vision of a world gone mad.

In Reykjavík, there is a small stone piece of a facade that was present during the nuclear blast in Hiroshima. It was donated to Reykjavík in 1991 as a pledge to peace.
Since the stone is white and difficult to photograph, I decided to just do a rubbing instead.
On August 6, 1945, the building was severely damaged and burnt by the first atomic bomb ever used in warfare. The Atomic Bomb Dome is a symbol of Hiroshima, conveying to us the horror of nuclear weapons and appealing for world peace. In 1966, the dome was registered as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
from every angel this machine is a joy to the eye. No harsh right angles, no triangles, no squares. Just liquid steel flowing to where it is needed next... form and function united in organic beauty. Cubism be damned...
Our New Maryland Flat: the lounge

I am pretty confident that these stamps are from when they claim to be. I don't think someone would go to the trouble of forging them and then aging them. And if they did, whatever, they look amazing! I had to break the "no more rubber stamps" rule for them. Of course, now I need another stamp holder.
