Atomic age for the win. A delightful creamer in the classic Swiss Alpine Chalet pattern by Marcrest, manufactured in 1960.
It's a building that was destroyed when the atomic bomb was dropped about 160 meters far away. (the picture in the front shows how it looked like before) Today it's a monument, and also world's heritage.

Today marks the 73rd Anniversary of the Hiroshima bombing. While in Hiroshima last week I was able to walk the grounds around the only building left standing from that horrible day. Hopefully the world has learned from this tragedy and we never repeat this horrible act again.
Dated 1951, these instructions for merchant vessels in port in the event of "atomic attack" are posted in several locations aboard Red Oak Victory. The instructions were issued by the U.S. Coast Guard, and remained posted until the ship was withdrawn from service for the last time in 1968.
SS Red Oak Victory, a Boulder Victory-class cargo ship built during World War II, is the only survivor of the 747 ships built at the Kaiser Richmond Shipyards. She is one of only three surviving Victory ships, larger and faster than the earlier Liberty ships.
Launched as SS Red Oak Victory, she was named in honor of Red Oak, Iowa, a town that had suffered a disproportionate number of casualties during the war. She was then commissioned as a U.S. Navy cargo ship, USS Red Oak Victory (AK-235), serving as an ammunition ship in the South Pacific until the end of World War II.
Red Oak Victory was crewed by the U.S. Merchant Marine during activations in support of the Korean War, the Vietnam War, and several international relief operations.
Today she is a museum ship, berthed at what remains of the Kaiser Richmond shipyard.

named for SS Savannah, was the first nuclear-powered cargo-passenger ship. Built in the late 1950s at a cost of $46.9 million, including a $28.3 million nuclear reactor and fuel core, funded by United States government agencies, Savannah was a demonstration project for the potential use of nuclear energy.[5] Launched on 21 July 1959, she was in service between 1962 and 1972 as one of only four nuclear-powered cargo ships ever built. Savannah has been moored at Pier 13 of the Canton Marine Terminal in Baltimore, Maryland since 2008.

A note about Log Furniture...
All wooden outdoor furniture is subject to the natural process of checking. The process adds to the natural beauty and character of this fine furniture. Checking happens as wood releases moisture, and normally occurs across or through annual growth rings. Checking is one of the special characteristics of cedar furniture and does not affect the structural performance or integrity of the wood.
