I know.... it's Astro Boy in Hollywood movie but I remember watching this animation over 30 years ago. The animation title were Atom Boy not Astro Boy. :-)

Strobist Info: I had my Nikon SB-600 on a light stand. I used my strobe in manual mode as usual. I believe it was set at 1/4th power. Triggered with Nikon CLS from my Fuji. I really want a PW as I am getting tired of putting hand over my onboard flash. LOL

Have a great Tuesday!

This couple has driven their Ariel about 3000 miles and were on the homestretch. (Not a lot of room for luggage on this vehicle) I wasn't the only one interested while they were fueling up in Kanab, Utah

brother... best friend... tattoo artist... once while play fighting as kids i kicked him in the knee and sent him to the hospital.

make sure to set your monitor to high brightness! LCDs work best!

i photographed pitchblende uranium ore in total darkness with an exposure of 15 seconds. what happened is that ionizing radiation from radioactive decay hit the camera's CCD, thus creating little spots on the pictures.

see it on video here!

this is the addition to the lovely lady from wendyhouse whose cats can be seen just below from an earlier photo I did this year, it was this weather when she went for this tattoo

Selenium in sandstone from New Mexico, USA. (SDSMT 3909, South Dakota School of Mines and Technology Museum of Geology, Rapid City, South Dakota, USA)

A mineral is a naturally-occurring, solid, inorganic, crystalline substance having a fairly definite chemical composition and having fairly definite physical properties. At its simplest, a mineral is a naturally-occurring solid chemical. Currently, there are over 4900 named and described minerals - about 200 of them are common and about 20 of them are very common. Mineral classification is based on anion chemistry. Major categories of minerals are: elements, sulfides, oxides, halides, carbonates, sulfates, phosphates, and silicates.

Elements are fundamental substances of matter - matter that is composed of the same types of atoms. At present, 118 elements are known (four of them are still unnamed). Of these, 98 occur naturally on Earth (hydrogen to californium). Most of these occur in rocks & minerals, although some occur in very small, trace amounts. Only some elements occur in their native elemental state as minerals.

To find a native element in nature, it must be relatively non-reactive and there must be some concentration process. Metallic, semimetallic (metalloid), and nonmetallic elements are known in their native state.

The rock shown above is from a "roll front deposit", in which native selenium occurs along a redox front in fluvial sandstone (see Granger & Santos, 1982).

will i ever stop? NO! why? well, my tattoo artist is also my brother, and sometimes this is the only way i can get some quality time with him. we're very close, but we have seperate lives, naturally. he lived with me for 8 or 9 months and just moved out, two blocks away, so he would still be close. however, we never see each other. that's just how life is, you know? busy. complicated. exhausting. when you finally get a chance to make that phone call to a family member, its too late, or your too tired or you figure its just not the right time to call them. so you put it off again. maybe tomorrow, right? and tomorrow never comes. living in downtown tucson, two blocks away from my brother. i do know generally where to find him. there are three bars that are pretty reliable. depending on the time of day and day of week, if he's not working or sleeping, he's likely to be in one of them. so, i roll over on my bike and see if i can find him. if i fail, maybe i'll just call and make another tattoo appointment. that's sure to give us a couple hours to catch up...

So feel the love come off of them

and take me in your arms

" The Ariel Atom is a high performance open air roadster that is produced by the Ariel Motor Company in Somerset, England. The Atom is built with an exoskeleton type frame and features very minimal bodywork to go along with the sports car’s lightweight theme. The Ariel Atom is powered by a variety of power plants ranging from a supercharged Honda K series four cylinders to GM Ecotec engines with outputs ranging from 245 HP to 300 HP depending upon the application. The standard Atom is able to accelerate from 0 to 60 MPH in only 2.7 seconds and can reach a top speed of 150 MPH. Ariel is currently working on the Atom 500, taking the lightweight sports car to the next level with a 2.4 Liter 10,000 RPM V8 made from a pair of Suzuki Hyabusa engines that will produce a maximum output of 500 HP."
