See anything different? Combat (1977) is missing its sticker on top of the cartridge. These can fall off, especially since the game is 40 years old.
Charley took care of his games, because (besides the sticker being off) they're in great condition.

The Joyboard was a controller for the Atari 2600. You controlled the direction in which you moved by leaning in the direction you wanted to go. It came with the Atari 2600 skiing game "Mogul Maniac".
Essentially, it's a retro Wii Fit.
It is compatible with other games as a joystick, so if you really want to play Pac-Man, but also need to exercise, you can do both at the same time! Of course, you'll likely end up highly aggravated over the lack of control, but you're in luck! The Joyboard is also the controller used by Amiga engineers to play the stress-reducing game "Guru Meditation", where the object is to remain perfectly still and balanced on the board until the on-screen guru reaches a higher plain and begins levitating.

The previous photo shows what I use to dust the motherboard and cartridge connector. This photo shows how (and what I use) to clean the cartridge connector on the motherboard of the Atari 2600.
I soak 91% rubbing alcohol on the edge (your top) of the craft foam sheet, which you'll have to cut down in order to fit it inside the cartridge connector.
I then place the craft foam sheet into the cartridge connector and go back and forth with a bit of pressure on the plated contacts.
If you're afraid to take your Atari apart (like I have) you don't have to in order to clean the cartridge connector. Just follow the same steps with your Atari intact.
Wait 5 minutes for the cartridge connector to dry and put your Atari 2600 back together.
NOTE: The cartridge connector is nailed/built onto the motherboard.
The arcade, at home! I remember seeing my father battle my sister for hours on 2 player Space Invaders.
i'm 26, and according to a date stamped on its circuit board this atari is older than i am by about six months. that means it's pushing 27. and it still works. i modded it some years ago so it could use standard RCA connectors for the video and audio instead of the old sliding switch it used instead of an RF converter. the cartridge in the slot is Star Voyager, my favorite game when i was about 6 or 7.
now here's where the tone changes.
this atari is one of three concrete things i have that i can connect with my dad. the other two are pairs of shark jaws he sent after he moved to florida. i haven't talked to him in many years. the whole divorce thing was awkward for all concerned and i guess that's why he eventually quit calling. you can't be a dad when you're 1,054 miles away.
i have no idea who he is; all i've got to go on are hazy childhood memories and things people have told me. this atari - commonly referred to as the "darth vader edition" for its lack of woodgrain - is one of those hazy memories. it's been a point of pride over the years that i've kept it functional.

The CX-40 Joystick for the Atari 2600. Classic. Iconic. Historic. And a little uncomfortable these days. Also, as far as I can tell, this is the only controller that specifically tells you which way is the “Top”.

With the black foam ring dust covers back on, this is a close look at the switch board and motherboard of the Atari 2600.
You can see the color tuner (bottom left of the motherboard, round white circle) and also where the Radio Frequency (RF) cable goes into the Atari.

This is the adapter that you need in order to hook up your Atari 2600 to a HD TV. Charley's Atari 2600 worked perfectly.
This goes on the end of the RF cable, which hooks into the back of your TV via coaxial connection.
You can get these in silver, but I like the gold plated due to a better connection, though, I haven't noticed a difference.
