Pitfall! is my favorite video game on the Atari 2600 system.

The player must maneuver a character (Pitfall Harry) through a maze-like jungle in an attempt to recover 32 treasures in a 20-minute time period. Along the way, he must negotiate numerous hazards, including pits, quicksand, rolling logs, fire, rattlesnakes, scorpions, and crocodiles. Harry may jump over or otherwise avoid these obstacles by climbing, running, or swinging on vines. Treasure includes bags of money, gold and silver bars, and diamond rings, which range in value from 2000 to 5000 points in 1000 point increments. There are eight of each treasure type, with 32 in total.

There were several sequels to the original game.

Pitfall II: Lost Caverns (1984), Pitfall: The Mayan Adventure (1994), Pitfall 3D: Beyond the Jungle (1998), and Pitfall: The Lost Expedition (2004)

Sweetness is when you find an Atari 2600 for under $50, with a bunch of games included.

Games, cases, and manuals from flea market find.

(Pictured: Combat)

According to what trusted sellers on eBay have told me, this is Combat for the Atari 2600, which is apparently EXTREMELY RARE (LQQK!). I had never heard of this game or this system before, so I don’t have much information on it to share.

At a later Goodwill visit I bought a (Sears-branded) Atari 2600 for $2.99. No power adapter, though, so I can't test to see if it works. I forget which Seattle-area Goodwill location this was... Burien, maybe?

ordered this from some online UK clothing store. now only if it were playable!

This is Mark VandeWettering's table of Atari bits, demonstrating his 2600 recreation of the German Enigma Machines of WW2. On his laptop there, he also fired up for me his recreation of Space War. Great stuff.

The cartridge label from Pac-Man for the Atari 2600.

Air-Sea Battle is a game developed by Atari, Inc. for the Atari 2600, and was one of the nine original launch titles for that system when it was released in October 1977. It was also released by Sears as Target Fun and was the pack-in game with the original Sears Tele-Games version of the Atari 2600.

Doubles from flea market. Nothing too fancy here - just run of the mill Atari Games
